Coin Roll Hunter of the year award nomination

I didn't see anything like this done last year, so I would like to start it this year, and hopefully for many years to come.

My nominee is someone that touched many of our lives here at Tnet through his kind words, humor, and incredible finds. Someone who I hope to continue to emulate for as long as I continue to hunt. Obviously I am speaking of the late Rich Hartford.

In my eyes Rich is easily the choice for 2011, and if we do it again next year (and for many years to come) maybe we can call it the Rich Hartford award.

Anyone second the motion?

i dont really have alot of room to say i'd recommend him but i have heard alot of nice things about rich reading through posts and i'd second all coices for him.

sounds like a fun idea. I never had the opportunity to interact with Rich as he had just passed away as I was getting active in the forum but it is clear that everyone respected him and his advice was always on the mark. I've enjoyed reading his old posts for knowledge myself.

Rich is a primary reason for my silver hauls that I report month after month. Unfortunately his final days with us were my first days. Even still his wisdom, words of encouragement and his willingness to help newbie after newbie are unmatched.

Maybe We could make a trophy and the mail it year after year,Old winner to new winner. Of course this year will be for Rich,I didn't know him but I wish I could have met him. Any ideas on the name of the trophy? I will put forth some money for this idea.

It's too bad you and I got into it earlier. You have made comments on some of the topics here, some exactly what I was going to write, great minds do think alike....despite personalities.

Saying that, you have made a very noble post in honoring Rich. I came aboard in May of this year so I never got to interact with him, but have read hundreds of his posts and I couldnt think of a better man to give it to. Also, making the annual award in his name is brilliant.

I know he would feel very honored that this tight-knit community continues to appreciate his contributions to the hobby he made over the years.

I believe the votes are in...but +1 by me.

I think this is a cool idea. I never really met Rich either, but did read many of his posts as well. I remember the night I read the posts about his passing. I was really bummed out. His posts were hilarious, uplifting, and always positive. The guy worked his tail off & found a ton of silver.

Great idea, Cards. This is a nice way to honor him.

I never had a chance to interact with him but from what I have read, it seems like a great thing to me. However, from all that I continue to read, it looks like Cards will be a top runner for the 2012 award. CnC, you have always inspired and challenged me to keep searching by your enormous finds. I propose:

1) That the trophy be an avatar PIC of some sort that the winner of the award gets to use throughout the coming year. Trophy design to be chosen by member vote.
2) Given that the 2011 unanimous winner is Rich and the award is named for Rich, we should consider making the award period coincide with the anniversary of Rich's last active date (April 13, 2011).
3) Subject to par. 2 above, nominations to open in a few weeks for the 2012 CRH'er of the year - winner to be named on or around April 13, 2012.

I think you have come up with an excellent idea. Rich was a real inspiration
to all of us who knew him on the forum over the years. He and I PM'ed each
other often and he always brought a smile to my face. I know he would be
greatly honored by your recommendation.
