Coin Roll Hunter of the year award nomination

I didn't see anything like this done last year, so I would like to start it this year, and hopefully for many years to come.

My nominee is someone that touched many of our lives here at Tnet through his kind words, humor, and incredible finds. Someone who I hope to continue to emulate for as long as I continue to hunt. Obviously I am speaking of the late Rich Hartford.

In my eyes Rich is easily the choice for 2011, and if we do it again next year (and for many years to come) maybe we can call it the Rich Hartford award.

Anyone second the motion?

Great idea. A few years ago we also did Find of the Year, Box of the Year, Haul of the Year, etc.

Great Idea! I never had a chance to talk with him, and like the other members have heard good things about him and read his posts. I think he was the first guy I was looking for every time I clicked next, for more informative, reliable, and helpful details while searching the old posts about this wonderful hobby. Cards, seeing from his old posts, I would like to think he would be honored to have such a great award, but also have it named after him!

How are we going to judge who is "The CRH of the Year". Are there going to be criteria, or just who has as much amount of certain coins. Since it is a Rich award, would the coins be only half dollars? Would we have different trophies, for different denominations of coins?

I am relatively new to the forum, but just in my short time you can see who actively posts. Who is willing to share their success and trouble with others. You can see who is willing to help the new guy and is a friend to the forum! Who is willing to pull out a redbook to help a member, or do some internet searching to identify a coin. I don't think that success will be the only criteria. Obviously the more successful hunters will have more to post and more advice to give. I think we will all just KNOW who the hunter of the year will be!

N8 is right. It shouldn't be only about CRH success. It should also be about sportsmanship, community involvement, etc. Nominations will have to be persuasive enough to show good cause for a member to deserve the Richie.

Nice idea.

Rich is a good choice and it has a nice ring to it.

I have been on this site for the last couple of years and Rich is one of the many that come and go in this case passed. But there are plenty of worthy candidates that no longer post or have slowed their roll for various reasons.

I would like to propose that in his memory it be postmortem. And for 2010 we award Silver Fox postmortem and for 2009 "LJ" Now she was a great contributer. Havent heard much from her since she went back to school.
