Hello, Gents, I got out today for a short hunt at a new field that had harvested corn. I found an 1862 IH which I gave to my son when I got home. The find of the day was the King George III copper. I will head back to this site next Fall since it should be in soy bean and I will be able to cover more ground with my coil. The corn stalks were difficult to swing in, but I was happy to find a Colonial copper. I am looking forward to getting some more hunts in during the 2015 season. My brother who lives in Reading has his research a brewing again. We will bucket again soon.
Got home and had a fine shave with a Super Iridium blade. Life sure is good. :hello:

Keep the passion high!

Kirk

Sounds like that field will be promising when the corn stalks get plowed under. I'd be psyched to get back there. Nice finds Kirk. Looking forward to what Kyle's research produces next year.

If the farmer doesn't disc the stalks down, it can really be hard to swing. It limits each pass to just one row, so it takes forever to cover any area. If I know the field has yielded old coppers, it is still worth the extra time though. Patience and perseverance is rewarded. Great job!

Thanks, Gentlemen, for the replies. Life has been busy lately with work and having two wonderful children to take care of. A 3 year old and a 3-month old. Digging has taken a backseat for now, but I hope to get back into the swing of things again.
