Keep in mind people, I'm not the enemy here. I think the people of Colorado are nuts if they allow this stuff to happen, but they've been a bunch of whacko liberals for many years. You'd never see me moving to that state. I rarely even visit there in my travels around the west. And, I think Karen is a valued member of the pro-gun club. I was simply trying to make the point that we need to maintain our credibility on the gun issues. That means sticking to the facts. Our greatest protection against gun control will be the court of public opinion. The Constitution only protects us as long as the people want it to. Once the people no longer care, it's over. Our position needs to be firm, strong, and truthful. And, I hope people , and businesses, will vote with their feet. Take your money, jobs, etc, and get out of the states that suppress your rights.

I submit that very FEW gun crimes are committed using shotguns. Of course, if you listen to Biden, that will surely increase. :) As a matter of fact, few are committed with rifles. There were rifles used in some recent, infamous crimes but, if you look at numbers, most are committed with handguns by "youths" that can't legally get a firearm in the first place. Cracking down on gang violence in NYC with the "stop and frisk" tactic is what worked for them, not outlawing guns. If we would keep our scum in prison where they belong instead of allowing the tree-hugging parole boards to let them go free on a "hope" that they don't commit more crimes would help.

Something else occurred to me while thinking about this issue. Maybe, in some respects, it will help us. At some point, if the gun control gets bad enough, their crime rates will soar....we've seen it happen again, and again,. Fewer guns, more crime. Happens every time. Maybe people sometimes need a bit of a shock to realize the importance of gun ownership in a society. Food for thought, in any case.

Well said Karen!!!! I suspect many of the anti-gun crowd have never heard of The Overton window.....and even if they had they wouldn't read it as they are far to close minded.....

Truth be told, I haven't read it either. I just understand the concept. :-)

Yes" to everyone on this thread. Glad we all get it. It is
the basic moral fiber that keeps society civil. Who was it?
John Adams, Ben Franklin?*That said,
"Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."

I cling to the people that still think we have half a chance because I am not that optimistic. I also cling to the legacy of my Hugenot ancestors who came here in 1600 to begin new lives free from tyranny and persecution.

There are pot clubs in Portland, too. "Sex is the highest form of self-actualization" is the guide today. Liberals through the media and schools are teaching kids that pot is not harmful, the free market is bad, communism and socialism is good, the Boston Tea Party was an act of terrorism, Islam is good, Christianity is a cult.....
Don't believe me? Check out Texas "CSCOPE." Those things are taught all the way through k-12 in Texas.

Only one of my four kids has a public school education, and graduated ten years ago. I still have one in school, she's never stepped foot in a public school classroom, and never will.

~ end of rant ~

If you take away gun deaths caused by suicide, gang-related gun deaths and murder by gun committed by someone other than the owner of that gun, the rate would be pretty low. The murders committed with a gun, by the leagal owner of that gun, has GOT to be pretty low. I don't know what the rate is but I would "guess" maybe 5%. I'm sure there are those on here that will research that guess number for me. Then tell me how many of those were committed with a shotgun. Funny thing, they (in the video) are talking about reducing the magazine capacity to 2 which in 1/5 the number of rounds we can have in an AR15 here in California. Why is that when a miniscule number of people are killed with them?

Ok. I'll post an article later when I'm on the computer rather than my phone. I'll post it to a new thread to keep education separated from 2A.
