Copper #9 & #10 for the year!!
Well I just found my camera so I can finally share some pics of my finds... I met up with my buddy Jim and his mom Diane at a colonial honey hole Jim stumbled on. This place has produced Neil's 1795 Half Dime as well as almost a dozen coppers for the group. I can't even tell you all how killer of a year this has been for the members of our club...
Thinking this place was pounded hard, Jim and I decided to give the site one more thorough searching and dig anything that evenly remotely sounded like a target. My second target was a smooth high tone that sounded deep in an area we haven't checked yet, 8" down popped the Matron Head LC with no date, my 9th copper for the year. We hunted hard digging buckshot after buckshot and some odds and ends, including the shoe buckle pieces. Got a hiccup next to an iron signal but couldn't quite eek out a decent tone and at 7" came the blowhole button. Fifteen minutes later and I'm ready to pack it in and I get a threshold null with a bit of a rise in the threshold from one way in the midst of a million previous dig holes. Couldn't pull a signal from it but it pinpointed deep with the Sovereign, sounded like another really deep nail. Propointer picked up something at 7" and from the sidewall, standing perfectly vertical came the KGII, a farthing I believe 1749. Might be my best condition copper yet and my 10th for the year.
I need some help with ID on a few pieces, the lead piece is holed and what I think is a makeshift fishing weight?? The next is the piece that looks like it goes to a pin of some sort and has a star with ribbing on the edge. Third is the small pear/teardrop shaped piece, it's made of brass which threw me off and has no spot to connect to something... any ideas??

You know what else is funny. The George QUARTER wont last longer than 100 years in the dirt, but that George farthing has lasted 272 years and still looks great. Amazing...
).
Good hunt
