Creek Bank Find

I found this today sticking out of a 20ft high creek bank that has seen quite a bit of erosion. Wasn't sure if it was anything so I grabbed it and brought it home. Thanks for opinions on this one.

It is a nice specimen of Igneous rock. It appears to have more weathering and smoothing on the lower 'squared' edge which may indicate at one time it was water warn and smoothed while the upper part was buried and protected from abrasive material in the creek. Likely someone tossed it up there in the years past.
