Welcome to the New Year everyone.

I survived last nights events unscathed! We had a great time around the talking fire with a live band. Lot's of great snacks, drinks, and friends.

The biggest worry was falling projectiles from skyward as the locals expelled copious amounts of ammo towards the heavens.

For you northern folks, I know how you feel. It was down in the upper 60's last night.

Ended up back in my chair with Christmas cookies and another cup-o-java. Guess I know how this year is going to go...

I've been laid up since I signed off last night. Eva abandoned me in the early am hours because she was bored. Wife went shopping and I was supposed to meet up with a friend. Now I'm hiding out in a corner room of the house so Baby and Eva can't find me. Our babysitter is a champ! I can't take care of myself right now...let alone a baby. Laying off the caffeine today but taking dayquil and copious amounts of gatorade. No choice but to work tomorrow. At least it is 70 degrees outside. I don't know how you guys up North can do it. Can't even walk out of your house when it is that cold and poor Eva would freeze.

Man, you critters must really be havin to recuperate today! LOL!

We had our neighborhood pork roast, with black eye peas, collard greens, corn, and cornbread. The neighbors brought the ice tea and eu claires(?) for dessert. A nice refreshing adult beverage and we're probably going to go down early tonight!

Oh, Scott! You may know this one. Many many years ago, there used to be a video to that Stones song, where the cinematography was done in an acid trip like filming. (oh god I hope I ain't gonna sound crazy here).
SCOTT, was that an actual video or was I just having some after effects? I mean, I didn't think them things happened, you know, like 5 or 10 yrs later..... lol, I mean, I'm really wondering, did they used to have a trippy video to that song years ago, that just ain't up on the tube now? If it was all just in my head, well, hey, it's been one hella fun ride..... lol, what can I say!
Are ya able to help a cat out with that?

I don't guess ya'll would want to know what happened in the scene on M*A*S*H when Painless got it on with the nurse in the coffin.......well...... from my world, anyway!

Back home safe and sound, what a night. 8 of us gathered at my cabin for some food and a few beverages we had a blast. We ended up outside on the lake for midnight watching the Northern Lights and listening to ice form beneath us. When the ice forms on a lake it makes thunderous cracking noises and with sounds that sound like Whales on steroids, very surreal. It was -56 when the clock struck 12 and with frozen drinks in hand we toasted to 2013. I hope everyone is well and had a good night. Anyone ever hear of the temperature getting so low that a bottle of Rum would freeze solid? Welcome to the Great White North eh....

No worries Gary, I nursed it back to room temperature over the course of a few hours today. Besides, everyone knows that alcohol abuse is wrong and frowned upon by most.

My chum the Fox came by for a visit to sample some of the food. The little bugger even snatched one of my gloves and decided to play keep away for a little bit. Hard to tell in the photo but my little friend has my gloves in it's mouth. Funny, I haven't been out there in quite awhile yet he or she was on my front deck within 30 minutes upon our arrival. As you can she the Fox is in very good shape, I'm leaning more towards it being a pregnant female?

Well, things started to do downhill last night. I had difficulty breathing, fever of 101.5 and pulse was in the 130s. Coughing like mad and aches and pains all over my body. I had to bite the bullet and go to the ER. Walked into the ER and told them I had pneumonia. After a series of tests they agreed with me. Gave me one gram of rocephin, albuterol nebulizer and motrin, levaquin to take home. I have never had pneumonia before. I strongly recommend nobody try it. I feel closer to death then I ever have in my life. I've been told that is quite common with pneumonia. Now I have one more thing I can empathize with patients on. Anyhow, obviously I can't work today. Also cancelled tomorrow. Guess we are back to one moment at a time.

I'm so, so sorry you have pneumonia...I have had it twice, very scary and leaves you so weak.
You will feel better soon now that you are on meds..
You will be in my thoughts..

G'morning Crispin- you will probably be taking most of the week off.

Perhaps you could set up a guest account for your patients and we could have a group therapy session in the Critter's section? I wonder if we could set up a video conference link?

I'd be happy to handle any of your cases where the patients think they are zombies. (cuz they just might be)

I'm sure we have enough talent here to handle just about anything. Then, after you are better, we can all go for a bus ride, and maybe a ride on the ferry!

I have a suggestion. ..don't drink anything with sugar ie..Gatorade. .
If needed pedialyte is a better choice, as you know sugar and the like lower the immune system!
Just a little motherly advice..

Sorry to hear about the pneumonia. I have never had it so I can't really relate to how it feels. However when I have the flue or something else I am one of the biggest wimps you could imagine.

I had that crap 1n 2003,man I thought I was dying,my whole body hurt,

it was several months before I felt ok.
