We ended up outside on the lake for midnight watching the Northern Lights and listening to ice form beneath us. When the ice forms on a lake it makes thunderous cracking noises and with sounds that sound like Whales on steroids, very surreal. It was -56 when the clock struck 12 and with frozen drinks in hand we toasted to 2013. I hope everyone is well and had a good night. I forgot to mention the Lynx that we saw on our way home from the cabin. The one time I didn't have my camera out. The Wife managed to get a few shots with her phone.

Thank you everybody for the warm thoughts. They mean a lot to me. Squiggy and Backbacon are spot on...the inhaler helps a lot. If I breath too deep or talk too loud then it is almost guaranteed bronchospasm. The albuterol seriously cuts back on that. Also taking motrin to help with inflammation. My fevers are gone. That is a very good sign. I figured things had gone from bad to worse when I was sick for five days and then I started spiking high fevers. Didn't make any sense, after five days one should be getting better and not worse. Chicken soup and baguettes for lunch and dinner. Drinking water every chance I feel I can stomach it. I'm definitely not getting worse.

I divided up today's and tomorrow's patients equally among all of you. They should be arriving at your homes sometime soon. I gave the hardest psychotherapy patients to Squiggy. It was hard convincing people that going up North this time of year would be good for their mental health so Backbacon and Bill will be getting the least. I have a few VIP patients that I sent to Jeff. Do the names Selena Gomez and Brett Farve sound familiar? If not, they had not heard of Jeff Gordon either...go figure. GIB, I sent you some patients that have been causing a bit of a raucous lately. So feel free to take them sailing and drop them off on a remote island somewhere.

Eva has given up on playing after the 17th attempt to engage me with no response. She now sits dutifully at the foot of the bed. Wife and Baby do well to just leave me in the corner of the house and bring me food. I always say that I learn something new in medicine every day. Today I learned what it feels like to have pneumonia.

You have some rather great photos. For effect I've been sitting in my chest style deep freezer in the garage while looking at them.

FYI my butt is numb and the chicken is thawed out, so I'm getting out now.

Being a ca native (no remarks here Jeffers) I don't know what ice lugs are..I can tell you I am sick of this warm weather...must be a happy medium for us all...
