Finally got my truck up the hill. After tonight its going to be a warmer week so hopefully thats it for the snow and ice. Im just glad I was already off for these 2 days. You guys up north can keep the snow and ice I dont care for it. HH everyone rock

I don't care how good a driver you are but I would rather drive in two feet of snow then on one inch of ice. At least you have traction.:coffee2: It's a fun mess here. Anywhere there is a hill which is all we are the cars are all at the bottom. We had like 14 school buses crash yesterday here no injuries thank goodness. This polar blast was supposed to be below us but dragged us in.
You guys can have your winter back now.

Might get up into the 40's on Saturday :icon_thumright:, but that night theres a 40% chance of snow. Kinda getting sick of shoveling my drive way. :BangHead:. Wish it was spring.

Lol, ice is the worst...in the last 22 years I have missed 3 weather related days of work, all due to ice. I can remember the last time we had a ice bout and my jerk neighbor neighbor driving proudly past our house many times with his new chains on his truck...I would have paid anything for chains then...lol.
Monday morning before work it was -27 here, this am it was -23. I'm beginning to think this is the coldest place in the U.S. Last year at this time I was still diggin.

ok rusty NO, whiskey don't freeze here..... maybe he was just spicing up the story a bit ND is world class hunting for pheasant but if it is cold the pheasants are gonna be buried in heavy cover............. .........and even a hunting dog will miss them
Seriously, you don't know how glad I am to know the straight of his story. He swears that it froze. I have always joked with him, telling him if he drinks whiskey that will freeze he'd better never drink any real whiskey. I couldn't remember if pheasant or chukar was the sought after species up there. My uncle took a hunting trip to North Dakota every year for about ten years. I allowed him to take my dog with him the last year he went. I have a German wire hair. It's my understanding that they are popular dogs up there. Any way... I hope things will heat up for you soon.

5° this morning.Im hearing 30's tomorrow.DIGGING OUT THE FLIP-FLOPS.

My dad who was from Illinois used to load up his brittanys and head to NorthDakota. This was in the 50's and 60's.He also used to hunt deer on a ranch that bordered wyoming and montana. He got to hunt both states. He also knew a game warden in missoula that he used to hunt mt.lions with.Long way to drive in a jeep.Im not much on killing stuff anymore. But i sure like eating them still.

Yeah, watching last night's news, I saw where it was clearly ice that gridlocked Atlanta and other places.

Yeah they said it would be south of us here and of course the worst of it hit us. Im north of atlanta but it got us pretty good. Everything was ice again this morning. Im glad I dont have to be to work till later.

brittany spaniels are hard to beat, if you get a good one. Any bad bird dog is bad, bad Brittanys seem to get an extra dose of bad though.

Yes n.c. they are a little high strung.I remember as a kid a buddys family had one.Always had to keep your hands in your pocket or get nipped.Theres a thin line between a nip and a bite.I believed its depth of bite x pain x loudness of scream.my dad swore buy them. They must of been good hunters or unfortunately they would have become the hunted....

Lol! I had an English setter bite me. He didn't get it that day but he finally took some led. My dad shot and killed him on accident. He intentionally shot the dog for not retrieving. He thought the dog was far enough away for a dusting. He got dusted alright! We never use shock collars. We use the old school dust em with bird shot. A good dog needs neither dusting or shocking.

We have one more night in south, Ga with below freezing temps. The ice melted this morning and we had water the first time since Tuesday night. I had to drive about 35 miles one way to check on my older brother last night and when I got back the lock on the storm door was frozen and I couldn't get the key into it. Good thing Mama was home. I used my down time effectively by cutting the 1/4 inch hardware cloth to modify my sunspot scoop and bought the stainless steel bolts, nuts & washers today and will finish it tonight while watching Appalachian Outlaws on the history channel at 10 pm, est. Hope to hit the water Saturday morning with my scoop. I will order the magnets for it next week, but right now I'm just tired of 22 casings driving me crazy in the water and chains fall out of the 1/2 inch holes, also. The 1/4 hardware cloth will fix things up for now. Stay safe & happy hunting when you can get out.

Actually, that is a pretty sad story N.C., do you feel the dog would learned his/her woes by being dusted with birdshot?? Put yourself in the dogs mind if you can...I find no humor in this.

If I could offer a bit of advice to the folks in the southern states - when you get on ice, for god's sake, don't slam on your brakes!! Spin your wheel in the direction of the spin and gently, gently, use your brake if you absolutely have to. And if you are using salt down there, watch out for black ice. If it's cold and the pavement looks nice and shiny, you're on it. If it's any consolation, up here in Eastern Canada, home of the nor'easter, we have our fair share of nutters on the roads during storms who seem to have gotten their licenses from a cracker jack box. And we should know better!

Well most of the ice was gone on my way home tonight. By tomorrow night it should all be gone. Hope everyone was safe during this.

Next time your lock freezes if there isnt anybody home one thing you can do is pee on the lock if you dont have a cup of hot coffee with you. It works trust me.

Sorry folks, Zone 10. Never went below 45 at night past days. Gonna be 80 this weekend.......
No freezing at all the past few winters. Usually we get a frost or light freeze once or twice...
Not complaining, neither are the kale and mustards/

:) yeah, it does! But not that I know personally.....hope it's getting better for you guys down there?
