Been a little while since I've been around. Got moved to the night shift at work and that has really hindered my prospecting and I've been on vacation the last couple of weeks. Well yesterday I got an email from Discovery Channel about when the teaser/trailers will be airing for the show I will be on called "Devils Canyon". First one is on May 17th during the airing of "The Last Alaskans". I am nervous like you wouldnt believe. It was the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. 6 weeks completely alone in the British Columbia bush, surviving and mining gold. No film crew, just me, filming myself the entire time. You get me, in the raw struggling like I have never done before.

But how did "The Goose" react............(you should have seen the people in the park......LOL!)

Time to take her out and get her certified for a concealed carry permit. Buy her a nice small lady's pistol that she is comfortable with. One of the perks of being known is being known that you will shoot back :evil6:
RCW 9.41.070: Concealed pistol license?Application?Fee?Renewal.

As you know, it is your duty to protect her in every way. If it's become that serious, make sure that she doesn't have to go anywhere alone or always have friends and family close by her that understand the situation. As a father, we do our best to protect our children, grand children, etc. So if your wife is being harassed then make sure that the kids are safe.

We are all good there. She runs my AK better than some of my buddies. LOL!

Sorry to hear that Goose,

Hopefully things will die down a bit after the show is done airing and you can film us some more awesome videos!

Too bad about the unwanted bs for you and family. Whatever happens PLEASE don't stop your youtube vids. I prefer the youtube Goose way over the serious Hollywood Goose......and I quit drinkin almost 30 years ago but howl when you and Mike have lunch & breakfast............

Sorry to hear that Boyce, regarding your wife. That's really messed up. It sounds like some jealous weirdo out there. Take care of your wife and family, and thanks so much for the entertaining videos of your adventures with Magic Mike. I'm going to miss your not posting new ones for awhile, we all are, but I understand. Do what you have to do. Cheers! :)

Boyce - Devil's canyon show is awesome. You're an animal. Lugging all that equipment over 5 miles through the bush is no joke. Looking forward to the rest of the show.

I tried out for that show. To make a long story short I'm not on it. May get a shot next season if it has one. I realize it's a brutal environment and that suits me fine. Been there done that and loved it. Gold no people a few bears what more can a guy ask for. Sign me up!

A lot safer then living in London. And you can carry a gun. And maybe find some yellow metal for the effort.

Enjoying your show now. I know you will deal with the trolls and all will be well. Appreciate you sharing when you can. Hopefully this leads to many more fun adventures if not you will always have this one.

Goose I think (after viewing this show) that your the only prospector on this show with any creditability (so far) to be prepared to get the job done! John (to me) is there for the drama and the other guy just didn't do enough planning / research into what he was getting in to! BUT I couldn't do any (anymore)of what all of you guys were doing! It looks like good gold is coming your way!

GREAT show last night. That tree fall was one close call. Had similar occurance but to a dredge hole I was working. If I hadn't have moved 10 minutes earlier I'd a been crawdad food as massive old cottonwood came down in the hole. Winters a coming-and starvation-better get it on asap. One tough place for sure-John

Last night's episode was actually my least favorite so far. I really liked the previous episodes because there was a lot of substance to them...exploration, some geology, biographical details, etc. But last night's episode was a little too heavy on the "canyon's gonna get ya" stuff, and the one guy whining into his campfire about how he's not getting enough gold and he's getting skinny, etc. (I know they were trying to save on weight, but would it really have added THAT much weight to throw a large jar of peanut butter into a backpack?) While I give Boyce major props for his fortitude in crossing the river, I'm glad that scene is over, because the show has been milking it for weeks in trailers and previous episodes. I hate it when these reality programs repeat some event over and over and over just to stretch the show into 60 minutes, instead of using additional footage. I'd much rather watch someone digging and panning -- even if they're not finding much -- and seeing what kinds of ground they're testing, than emphasizing scenes that have little to do with the actual premise. Just my two cents...

Theres enought drama in real life. And i know its a reallity where you are. But I wish they would leave some of it out. But I guess thats what makes the ratings. Best of luck and hope your family will remain safe. If there as tough as you they should be fine.

not sure about the BC area, but up here in AK its the black bears that have been killing people lately. I have never had trouble in the woods with the brownies, but the blackies can be a different story. Think we are up to 6 killed in the last few weeks by bears... and not in very rural areas either. Most of the time I have found the Brownies to be pretty skittish out in the back woods but the blackies are very curious and will come right in on you and that's when things get dicey. My .454 is always in the chest holster out of the way when I am working but right at hand when I need it!

Good show so far!

I have to say that overall, I liked the first three episodes I have seen (I have to watch online as I have no TV service)! However, a lot more could have been accomplished if it were not for all of the pissing and moaning shots of how bad Devil's Canyon is and has been for the old timers. I am sure that the shots were more for the Producers and Editors but us watchers want to see more action of actual Gold prospecting, hunting or fishing for food, building camps, etc... Now I could be wrong but on the maps and satellite images I have seen, there are several roads close by and some of the filming shots don't appear that they could have been gotten by any of the participant Gold Prospectors such as when Ben was climbing down the rock face to work the potholes made by the waterfall. I just can't believe that he spent the time to set up another camera in a dangerous/treacherous location across from where he was climbing down the rock face! I will keep watching even if the remoteness of the location, them being totally alone and some of the filming shots are not totally honest.

I like the show. I will say that without a DVR, any of these types of shows would be hard to watch. Too many recaps and teasers right after returning from 3.5 minutes of commercials every 9.5 minutes.

they must think we forgot what we saw 3mins ago.but i do like this show. brad

Biggest complaint of the show and I agree. I am guessing its because its a pilot so they have to give away air time. Dont know for sure though.

4th of July. On most major holidays they wont air new shows for fear of losing viewership. Thats why you see a lot of marathons for established shows during those times.
