The DFX grabbed this yesterday at the site that gave up the IH and war nickel. SLQ was recovered at about 6.5". The date doesn't show in the picture and I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it out on the coin or not. If I can get a date on it I'll post when I do. Another first for me. 8)

Yeah, I cannot see the date at all on this one. Really nice coin!

Congrats on the SLQ isn't is a rush... I dang near had heart failure when I found my first one..

BEAUTIFUL! No matter what that is a true beauty. Congrats on that sweet find there.

I have found a few of those slq over the years..I believe only 2 of them had dates that I could read...They started recessing the dates on the slq because the US Mint probably figured out the same thing, that they wear away quickly..Im not sure exactly when they started recessing them but If you did know.. then you would have an idea about how old the coins with no dates are..because they would be minted before that point...Does that make sense????Anyway I like those coins alot, but my favorite is The Mercury Dime.I think those designs are beautiful..Nice Finds..HH

Yeah...I think the mercs are pretty cool too.

Congrats on the SLQ! Most posted here don't have dates; they started recessing in 1925, I think, so it's in the 1917-24 range.

Thanks to all for the comments.

Real nice whether theres a date or not.

Nice,

They aren't that easy to come by. They either have no date or are AU in condition.

I copied the picture into ArcSoft Photo Studio 5, created a negative, adjusted the color, hugh and etc. and it appears to be 1918 or 1919. You can see a rounded top on the far right side and the digit next to it is not rounded (therefore not a 2) which only makes the 1918 or 1919 a "fit" for what is still there. If it were a 1916 there would be no stars on the reverse. And since it is lacking a rounded 3rd digit it's not a 1920-1924.

Great find by the way

Nice, date or no date, it's a beautiful coin and recovery. Congrats!
