Diggers

Let's please end this arguement... It is turning ugly...

American by birth, Patriot by choice.

I would rather die standing on my two feet defending our Constitution than live a lifetime on my knees......

Exactly I 100% agree aswell

I agree. If you think "Diggers" is a worthless waste of time and hurts the image of metal detecting - like I do, then don't watch it. If you think it promotes the hobby and enjoy watching two clowns make fools of themselves, tune in each week and enjoy! Very simple.

Its on tonight Terry dont miss the nectar sector

Simple solution. You don't like it don't watch

Here's one of your exact quotes from another thread........ "With the new trend to be over sensitive and offended by everything, it can be pretty easy to bait em in." Maybe you know more about this "New trend" from personal experience? I think you should practice what you preach! Anything negative posted about Diggers and there you are..... defending them and the show without fail. A perfect description of someone who is "over sensitive" Just sayin'
Im not easily offended but I can be offended. What he posted made me mad and I said it did. Sorry your having to waste your time looking through my posts... I must really get to you...just saying...This thread has really run its course, were just saying the same things over and over.

It should be a thread discussing episodes.....we already know there are four or five fellas here who want to end the show....they chime in with very immature comments whenever they have the chance...considering their main complaint about the show its pretty hypocritical. Therefore when you keep insulting the show on its intellectual merits it would seem that you are actually trying to insult those of us that enjoy watching it. Forum rules won't allow you guys to do it directly. But, you guys are real good about being catty you must put that to practice quite a bit. They videos before the show and they were picked up by a network....that is awesome.. good for them keeping their day jobs. They obviously care about the hobby and educate the younger and curios generations on the hobby. The show isn't there to show that. Yet, if you do your research you can easily find the positive influence they are trying to have. What people take away from it is on the shoulders of those people. A person is gonna do the things they do regardless of influence its been show time and again. Detecting forbidden sites I.E. battlefields monuments, state parks.... you really think some guy is sitting there innocent....bored and then Diggers comes on and theres this lightbulb...." Hey, look at those guys.... am so gonna go get a Garrett and sale me some belt buckles.... gonna be rich like them" . Very over creative thinking on the behalf of the naysayers.... especially with all the information to the contrary of the negative opinions.....And a petition to end the show??? really sheesh Holy Nanny state that is just silly....maybe you should work on some legislation to protect us all, en mass. Thank you Ringy and KG wishing you all the best and good digs!

Man. I didn't realize I was going to start a argument when I started this thread. I just wanted to see if anyone else love the show as much as I did. Lol

Keep on digging my friends
😄

Very well said.

What the are doing is providing a lot of filler for the produces to pad the show with easy and cheap to film comments from the two actors. The History channel and H2 have made this sort of fluff into an industry. I am guessing that they spend only a day or two on site for each show. I don't see sarcasm and I know sarcasm when I hear it. These low-budget reality shows are on tight time constraints and budgets. I would just like to see a good show on metal detecting that embraced the technology and skills instead of the buffoonery of the actors. Pete
You guessed that they spend a day or two on each site...last nights episode said they spent a week at that site.

Here is a interview with KG and RM for those who haven't seen it. They say they put in 90 hours a week, that's a long day or 2.

I'd like to be one of them clowns...

I can whoop and holler- could really use the wads of cash they are accumulating, and would enjoy hunting where you guy's can't, even if I don't get to keep it.

I promise to get very excited every time I find something you planted- ka-ching~!

Nobody can do awesomeness like KG and RM, otherwise myself and Bones would be in the show also, but alas we were not asked. KG and RM have what it takes.

They are just Rick Savage wannabees

Bwahaha! That's funny concise ring they were in production before American digger.

They are just Rick Savage wannabees

? Nobody is that bad. They are goofy and obnoxious but I can still sit and enjoy them. Rick Savage is in a league of crap all by himself. Just my opinion of course.

You all just reminded me to autotune the repeat of last weeks episode that I missed cuz I was at a Red Sox game. Tomorrow (THU) 3/13 @ 6 pm on NatGeo. thx to all, and HH!

Just my two cents, if y'all don't mind. I am from Gardner, KS and moved down to Houston last July. I grew up metal detecting with my Papa, Gary Winters, Sr. (now deceased). He used to get so excited when he found just about anything. He would laugh, crack a big smile, and shake his hands excitedly. This was a man who had found rings, coins, and other rather valuable (monetarily and historically) items. Now, when I saw this as a kid, it, in turn, made me really excited and spurred my interest in the hobby. As an adult, I found that part of his excitement was an act, in a way. He did it for me! Papa wanted me to see how much fun it was to get out and enjoy detecting. Granted, he was indeed delighted with any find. We used to make up stories or surmise what an item was used for, who owned it, why it was significant... This brings me to my point. Yes, the guys on Diggers act crazy more often than not. Do I think it is over-the-top? Yup! Does it bother me? Sometimes. Do I believe they love what they do? Certainly. Am I jealous that they get paid to do what they love? Sadly, I am.

I have a good friend that's on one of the top-rated shows on SciFi (yes, I still call it SciFi as 'SyFy' is stupid) and have seen first-hand how editing can change the entire scene, story, or episode. Heck, it can change a person's whole persona...seemingly. Well, I have to believe that the magic of editing has a lot to do with the antics on Diggers. Sure, the show wouldn't have lasted a few episodes if they followed and aired what really happens when one is out digging. I would judge this show more a docu-drama as opposed to anything else. I enjoy it, I have some gripes, but I have gripes with pretty much anything-- I'm human. The Bleeding KS episode really rubbed me the wrong way being that I lived five (5) minutes south of Olathe since about 1994 and had repeatedly tried getting into Mahaffie to detect and was always denied-- even with people on the "inside." It was against the rules. Black Jack is pretty well unknown-- even to Kansans. Heck, they were about to destroy most of that site a few years back and it took massive efforts to secure the funding to save that land. The parking lot is in shambles and the monument in the front by the derelict road is in ruins and can barely be read. I tried getting in there too and was turned away. They stated that it was a historic site and they would allow no-one in to detect or relic hunt. They would not even allow anyone to walk around the site. There is no permanent staff and has virtually no funding. Interesting.

That being said, I think that Diggers is on the right track and, like any show, what you see is not necessarily the way it went down. So, rather than really believing what you see, you may want to keep in mind my experiences as a child. They may just be doing what my Papa did: making it fun for themselves and others as well as trying to inspire another generation of hunters lest we lose the youngsters to mobile phones and TV's. Or, welcome to the editing process. Thanks for reading my novel and have a great day!
