Went Mding for Gold and found this it jumped up on my magnet as I was walking by it weighs 602 grams very dense....

Detecting for gold in a gold field? And it's highly magnetic, not just mildly? Very possible that it's magnetite. I don't see a fusion crust on your sample--that's often a sign of a meteorite.

Perform a streak test on your toilet with it to be sure, but its probably just magnetite.

Found one awhile back.
Performing the toilet test ... swoosh ... no streak left in the bowl.
But my rock is gone. Now what am i suppose to do?

Iron oxide ore, magnetite or hematite, if you do t have a streak plate use the bottom of an unglazed mug, if red streak hematite. No streak maybe magnetite. The magnet is not necessarily an indicator of magnetite. I have picked up quite a few of these in the desert floor.

Looks like magnetite. Stuff is everywhere where I live.

Looks like bog iron. Not smooth or shiny enough to be hematite. Too lumpy to be magnetite.

That's easy enough. Do it the way man has been doing it forever. Throw it on the grill for an hour then drop it in a bucket of cold water. Should shatter like a bad alibi.

You might preform the bite test.

take a fine file and file a small flat spot and see if it shines like metal. If it does then it will have to be analized to see what it's composed of.

Looks like Hematite nodules we have in my area.
