Duckys Thread - Georgia Panning and Prospecting.

Got out with Kevin today. Talk about a wealth of information! Here is a quick video between clean outs. I will post my clean up pics later

This is just some of the glass we removed from the stream today. I get some every time I go. Can't imagine the stuff our miners are removing from the bigger creeks and rivers throughout our nation. Keep doing your thing guys! ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1434063132.388387.webp

Is that a "shine" jar? Lol

It's Georgia, I'm about 99% sure it is.

I've never had real moonshine. Maybe I need to come to Georgia too!

Come on down. I may or may not know a guy who makes it. And he may or may not be local!

Watch out, that stuff will curl your hair. Put you cig out before you drink it....might cause an explosion

I bought a quart earlier this year and the guy told me to pour a bag of skittles in it. The next day they dissolved and boy o boy could you taste the rainbow!

The best way to drink Moonshine is to chill it in the freezer along with a few cans of Schlitz Beer. Take them out, take a big drink of Moon and then chase it with the Schlitz and it smooths the burn of the Moon right down. Did this almost every Friday night and sometimes Saturday nights when I was 18 and we played Poker. Warning: After about 4 big chugs of Moon chased with Schlitz, you will likely be playing two to three hands. Well, that is what you will be seeing, LOL!!

How cool is that! You have KevininColorado in Georgia giving you a hand? Look forward to seeing your clean out. I know if Ga is out of moonshine they may or not be some here in Tennessee.
Everything is served in a mason jar !

You guys must be getting the head and tail of the still run. The middle of the run is the best and smoothest shine. More expensive but worth it!

Thats right you always pull the head and then later on the tails . If you have to add anything to it I do not want it. It should and will stand alone. So I heard.:laughing7: 80 % anything more it gets a little hot.

I still remember Career Day in High School back in the Spring of 1970. Randy Parton (Dolly's brother) brought some Peach Brandy Moonshine to school that I believe was made by the famed Popcorn Sutton. Now, I had sampled Moonshine before this time but never any as good as what Randy brought to school that day. Randy shared the Moonshine with myself and about 5 other guys and needless to say, we were snockered the whole day and it was a day that I will never forget. We spent most of the day either hiding in the bathrooms or in the woods behind Gatlinburg-Pittman High School to keep from being caught by any Teachers or old "Buck Toothed" Gene Huskey, the Principal.

Here is some of the gold I got with Ducky. You can see a mix of gold and mercury covered gold here. Good times!

Btw, we were on private property. Ducky negotiated access some time ago and has done a great job of exploring and prospecting. It looked to me like he was the only prospector who has been in that stream in many years so I was impressed with his research and prospecting skills. We dug down deeper than he'd been before and found the mercury covered gold which was something Ducky had not seen before. The stream is quite small so I doubt the Mercury is from historic mining but you never know, Villa Rica was the site of a gold rush in the 1820 timeframe...even before Dahlonega Rush...so it might be from back then. I love the idea that we caught gold which escaped from an early miner's sluice!

Dang, now that song will be stuck in my head all day.

You should finish the lyrics...LOL

Song writing tip: Dig rhymes with pig and we did go for pork bbq (yum!) and beer after prospecting ;)
