Ok, just my luck. Dug my first old V nickel, and the reverse side is backwards...I mean everything is just the opposite of what it should be. Is this an error? Also either the date side is worn smooth or it just doesn't exist. I'm not nuts, anyone have any feedback? The coin on the right is a normal nickel. Thanks, AMC

If ya posted pics, it might be easier to help you out

Lets see a pic dude! Could be an error? I know absolutely nothing though, but someone here will help

a photo or two would be great because I dont think there are any known mint errors for that particular nickel. could either be very rare or counterfeit. lets hope its not the latter of the two! ;D

Is it exactly the right size for a nickel and is it perfectly round?

The reason I ask is that the only times I have seen a coin with a reversed detail is when they were stacked on a railroad track and run over by a train which can imprint the detail from one coin onto the one that was next to it. This detail would be in reverse. Also the blank side could be the result of the train smushing it too.

You think that's nuts! I found a V nickel on the side of the road in front of my daughters' house ??? And yes in this case pictures are a must

Pictures of this coin would be Sweet!

Thanks Joe, you are probably right on the money. Sorry about the lousy scan as the camera is away with my wife...the coin on the right is a normal nickel. Actually counterfeit makes sense, as the details are indented into the coin, and its NOT perfectly round. It's also reeded on the reverse, unlike a normal coin. Wow it figures that i'd dig something that odd. AMC

Most definitely an error coin. And never recorded.
You need to ge hold of Heritage auction and ask for
some help.

Is this pictures of both sides of the coin? Both reverse sides but one side is incused & backwards? It could be a very rare error type called BROCKAGE ~ full "mirror" brockage is RARE!!!. Even being corroded it could be worth hundreds! That's if it is indeed a real mint-made error coin, and not manipulated.

The world's leading authority on error coins is Fred Weinberg of Encino CA ~ www.fredweinberg.com ~ send him nice close-up pic's of both sides of the coin ~ he should be able to tell you what you've got there!

GOOD LUCK!

Neat I hope we get to hear the rest of the story

I am getting goosebumps thinking about the outcome. A new error would be awesome.

It would be great if you could get a pic with more detail
