50 degrees today and only 1 appointment at the YMCA. Let's see...Harley ride?...or 2 hours of detecting for the first time this year? :icon_sunny:...well the SE got the nod today. I went right back to my old faithful site that has given up a lot of silver and injuns in the last 30 years. I love this place because I can hunt for 2 hours and may not get a good signal to dig...but there are still some deepies at 8"+ there to be had. I used a combo of the 1050 coil and my 6" Excelerator and they didn't disappoint.
I no more than noise canceled and walked 2 feet from the car...the EXACT same place I park the car every time I hunt there...and BANG...a sweet worn Barber dime down about 8 1/2". NO pressure now ...just fun time. Picked up three more wheaties...then got that sweet Injun sound. Dug a nice deep plug about 6" down then ran the probe in the hole. About 2 more inces down...out pops the 1888 Injun from 8". Wandered around for another hour or so and popped out 2 silver Roosey's from about 7" each...then looked at my watch. I realized I had to be back for an appointment at 4:00 so I thought I'd better get going....RIGHT :D :D :D. I decided to hunt another 20 minutes and I'm glad I did. Popped on the 6" Excelerator and hit the "nasty zone" at this park. 10 minutes later out pops this nice sterling band from 7" down so I called it a day. It felt great to officially be out hunting for the first time this year. I didn't care if I found a thing...but I'm glad I did. You never know about this pounded place. sometimes you don't even get a wheatie...then other times like today...you get 3 or 4 keepers.

Nice Digs...Glad you got out, the Silver Gods were smiling on you today...I know I am...Gotta love that Honey spot...I have one of my own, it's overseen by a Parks and Recreation Guy. He doesn't let anybody but me out there...I repay him with a 12 pk of Dr. Pepper for the Frig in his office each month during the Summer.

Congrats on your finds and HH

Hey S.F. , it's about time we heard from you. I went out on Sun. and got 2 mercs, 2 wheats and an Indian. When are we going to hit Forrest park? I am getting antsy for a road trip.
Nice "stuff, and glad to hear you finally got out.

Hey Bryce,

So glad to hear you dusted off your SE and gave it a go at that park of yours. Man, that's one awesome hunt!!
Keep up the great work. It's amazing how a site keeps producing...I've got a few that reward me almost everytime I go.

Bryce,
Way to start off the year! :o It's a great feeling to score a silver right off the bat. Smooth sailing after that.
Very nice variety of finds. What year is the green patina wheat in the bottom left? Am I seeing 1915? Looks like an oldie.
Congrats,
MM

WTG Bryce, I knew this post was coming! Glad to see the weather changed for you finally. Nice job on the coinage and ring, that's one heck of a good spot you chose to search for your first outing.

Glad you got out and it sure was worthwhile ... a barber and a IH will make anyone's day ... congratz ~ Jimmy

Man, that SE is a workhorse for sure!
Are you hunting ALL METAL by chance? Your depth of recovery is indeed impressive.
Great job!

Thanks Les. I was actually thinking of PM'ing you and talking about road tripping there...but Mike Moutray got booted out of there a couple of weeks ago. Sounds like they are trying to stop detecting there...not good.

Thanks Dan. I love this place. I would rather hunt 2 hours and find just one deepie...than hunt a place that doesn't have anything old to offer.

Thanks MM. It's a 1919D. The injun I found looks nasty in the scan..but it looks like someone just dropped it yesterday while holding it in my hand.

Thanks Bruce. Don't think I'll get near as much hunt time this year with all that's going on...but I will when I can. Great stress relief. Keep in touch bud.
