I do too. You can pedal an ebike with a dead battery, you just won't like it. It's harder than a regular bike because it's heavier and you've got the resistance of spinning the motor, not just the wheels.

Surron is hard to beat for range/speed/comfort etc. However, the price on a decent ebike is insane (good batteries aren't cheap) Unless sound is an issue you would be better off with gas, something like a used 200cc mini bike with racks for 300$ would be perfect to go about anywhere and a gallon of gas will get your further than any ebike battery will. If you are wanting to go places that are really hard to get to then a Rokon 2wd motorcycle is way to go.

Actually, yes. The one I linked earlier (MokWheel obsidian). But I literally just got it — had been on order for a while. Took it for its first ride today. Loved it. Only went about ten fairly easy miles and mostly didn’t even use the motor, so it’s still showing a nearly full charge. Hope to get more use out of it, but at least I know it works.

I put this together in October 2017. Today the motor gave up. I don’t know, could be a loose wire I’ll have to check. It’s been a wonderful 8 years. I paid $550 for motor and battery. Probably out 10,000 miles on it. 1000 watt motor goes top speed 31 mph.

I Built a couple like you did. I had them for like 3 or 4 years. I gave them both away a month ago. I like the fact I can fold mine now up and put them in my car

Update: I bought a 1500 watt motor and finished installing it today. I has a lot of zip even with my 8 year-old battery. Next Spring I might get a new battery 25 ah.

I will have to see how the mileage varies but my thinking is about the same with a new, clean motor. One thing about electrics, when you are standing there you cannot hear any motor running, if you touch the throttle it will go, and if you have the wheel turned you are going down.
