My main exploring/scouting bike is a Sur-ron with a 5kW motor and 40AH capacity battery. Top speed of 55mph and about 75 mile range. I modified it with longer motorcycle forks and a different rear suspension link to raise it 2 inches (I'm 6'1").

But wouldn't that be considered an electric motorcycle, rather than an eBike? Don't class 2 eBikes top out at about 1KW of power and 28 MPH?

Gare, I don’t have one, nor have I ridden one, but I think it’s a good idea. Taking up hobbies that require balance has been shown to be good for fighting age and brain diseases. Not saying you’re old. Just saying.

Gare I bought a LECTRIC XP 3.0 eighteen months ago. It does good as long as your not hitting steep inclines. It's a class 2 bike, normal top end is 20 mph but you can open it up and go up to 28mph (20mph is plenty fast for me). These are normally on sale for $999. I ride it from my house to detect locally and have used it to ride from a parking lot at a defunct BSA camp and road it a mile in back to where the cabins once stood. It really saved my legs that day.

way to pricey for my blood! If I need to get out that bad I'll use my 4x4 ATV. They look to be a good idea for some , just not me! Do they make solar chargers for these? IF I had one of these I'd need to have a solar charger OR need to have/carry a back up battery because I'm a disabled Vet that can't walk far anymore ! My younger Brother and his wife have one but he got rid of it and got a three wheeler ebike because he felt wobbly use the two wheeler !

Well I have a couple I converted to electric by adding a front wheel motor and battery. I wanted to get a decent one . I started watching youtube on the best ones and the worst ones. It seems some have SEVERE battery issues. On some of the bikes when charging the lithium batteries catch on fire burning there house up. (I can relate to that earlier this year) Some manufacturers Do not service there bikes as to parts needed. If you go to youtube there is all kinds of buys and don't buys . I trust you people more then you tube. I thank you folks for your input. It means a lot to me

Lately I have been seeing ads pop up online for e-bikes built for larger riders. They caught my eye because I equate that description with being more heavy duty. If I need the bike to get me somewhere off road, I sure don't want it breaking down and forcing me to carry it back. I'm still looking and haven't pulled the trigger on one yet but just thought I throw my two cents in.

Maybe more heavy duty, maybe just taller. Most of the early eBikes would only fit you well If you were less than 6 ft tall. Several of the newer ones are built for taller riders. The one I've been looking at accommodates riders from 5' 6" up to 6' 8", with a payload (rider plus gear) of 400 lbs.
