Everyone call Farmer's and ask them to stop running that bad commercial.....

of the THer running his coil over the gold chain laden neck of a beach tourist and then YANKING it off his neck!!!!!!!!!!!!! I called them and told then it was unrealistic of metal detectorists and made us all look bad and is making it harder to keep our hobby alive. They said it was all in fun and a joke, I said IT"S NO JOKE. >:(

Call and tell them that bears don't ride motorcycles...they have that on one of their commercials too...it was a JOKE, and one that I thought was very funny...give people a little credit, they aren't going to think that's what detectorist do...Its the new trend, be offended by everything...even a goofy commercial.

Is that stupid commercial still on?
They dropped it here. They still have the bear, and the dog, but added a grill and the guy catching fire before he falls into the pool.

In a previous commercial they used a prospector on a ladder looking into a bedroom window at jewelry.

They use all animals except the two people who are TH'ers.
What grudge do they have against the treasure hunting community? :icon_scratch:

I bet if we could dig a little deeper there would be a connection somewhere.

I must have thicker skin as I do not let things like this ruffle my feathers. A person in a beer commercial does not mean that they are a alcoholic. One person in a few thousand will loose weight like Marie Osmond (I hate that commercial)! Insurance commercials showing someone rear ending another car does not mean everyone drives like a maniac. A few years ago everyone hated the Diggers show but now many realized that the over the top saga brought many new members to the detecting world. If things get that bad hit the change the channel button.

Oh, come on, I think its funny! Can't say I have had the urge to yank one off but most certainly a silent wish it might drop off into the water when I am nearby. And I always think its funny when you pass by someone with a big hunk of gold on and they reflexively reach up to check that it is still there.

funny you say that, I was water hunting Sunday with one of my grandsons when I noticed this Mexican guy swim by with a really fat Gold Figueroa necklace, when I thought to myself it wouldn't hurt my feelings if he lost that chain and I found it!lol! Good luck!

Absolutely agree with G.I.B., and I've said the same thing on this topic before. I have State Farm insurance. By the way, when you say their little jingle out loud, nothin happens. It ain't like on the TV.
