"What," an inquiring young mind demanded, "is that weird looking white thing above the initials in your avatar?"

It's the nib (point) of a fountain pen.

I chose it because I'm a heel-dragging Luddite who still prefers paper and ink to computers— and because I'm an editor.

I thought it was a ukulele.

;D

It's just me. I originally took it to put with an e-mail as a joke to a family member.

Well right this second mine has gone from, "Yea! Happy New Year" to "Stars Fell on Alabama!" ;D (I like the Jimmy Buffett version that one.) Multipurpose, plus I'm being just a tad lazy about changing it. :D Might go back to the blinking one soon though. ;)

You know what is going to happen. Someone will type up a description of their avatar. A month or two from now some poor soul will be reading this post and scratching there head and wondering....... how come the descriptions dont make sense?.........

Some of us will most likely have changed our avatars. LOL

You could head this problem off at the pass by giving an explaination for your current avatar that makes no sense... ;)

My photo is of a cache I found a long time ago.
It includes a fruit jar and what was in it.
Found it long enough ago it would not be couth to post it and try to explain it as well
So I'll just use it for the avatar.

After having been a Fire Captain w/CDF for 32 years, it kinda looks like me when I'm ready to spring into action, and the caption below was our motto when things go bad or the goin' got rough.

Sure it would, Old Rascal !

Old Dog?? Can you/will you/did you post this under best finds?? ::) :)

My avatar has changed once a week for the past 3 years...everyday in October for Halloween. I have over 600 versions of Mona Lisa that I can use....and usually try to pick one that fits the Tnet mood or topic of the moment.

I'm due to change her soon........

I've had quite a few myself- this one is just me hunting my sisters place up in Oakridge, Oregon.

Then there's

"Lemon stuffed Chicken breast"

lemon.jpg

"My favorite Pres"

lemon5.jpg

A scene from the game "Pirates"

lemon3.jpg

A nugget I found

lemon4.jpg

And an Ann Coulter spoof-

lemon2.jpg

Me teaching my middle stepchild how to pan-

lemon6.jpg

I'm sure there's more, but I just can't place them right now- :D

Oh yeah, I went through a phase where I was "Blinky Sugar Socks" but I was young and dumb and easily influenced back then........ ;)
