My father passed away a couple of years ago and we recently went on a "treasure hunt" in the scary basement of my parent's home. Lots of goodies there, but thats another story. I thought I'd share the pictures I took today of the collection. I hope I cropped them small enough.

I must say that your father had a great collection. IT's very nice to have something to pass on to your children. I certainly hope when my day comes that I have something nice to pass on my daughter.

No, it was not on a shelf. There were several metal boxes. Hidden behind a desk, secret compartment of the same desk.(never knew that) and stashed in envelopes that were with bank envelopes. They could have been easily thrwon away. :' Unfortunately, this is only part of what we have found so far as we gave half to my brother. I was told there should be more, but mom doesn't remember where it is. The crawl space is scary!! It has a moat around it and a small entrance about 4 feet above the ground. When we go back I will get pictures of the basement that still scares me as an adult.

Congrats on finding your father's collection of nice stuff. I like the Liberty halfs. Hopefully you find more of his collection. The pictures are fine. I used to crop my pictures to get them under the 256KB but I found a better way. It allows you to keep the entire picture and it reduces the space it takes up. An 800KB picture following this process would be reduced to approx. 115KB. Plus, when I attach a picture that I've done this to to a post, it comes in full screen size. You might want to try this sometime. Maybe this will save you from cropping. I know it works with jpg's, but I'm not sure about other types of files.

Go to your list of pictures.
Right click on one of the pictures.
Select "open with" then select "paint".
In the menu bar select "image" then "stretch/skew".
Change the horizontal and vertical to 40% and hit "ok".
Save as either the same name or a different name.
Do this to each of the pictures you plan on posting.

those teeth were sent to the refinery and I couldnt find the post about the MIDWEST refinery, but I am VERY pleased and will save any GOLD teeth I found from now on! LOL

Sorry about the loss of your father. Parents have the tendency to hid things throughout the house. I know my mother in law does. Great find and great pics. Look forward to more pics of this treasure hunt.

Sorry for your loss rcawdorswife, but great treasure. I think it is a shame that you have to split everything with your Brother as it ruins all the year coin collections.... I think they should all stay together. All the best with future searches.
