It's been awhile sense I posted last due to deer season being here, and I spend most of my time out on a buddies of mines ranch during this part of the year. Haven't had much luck hunting due to some mountain lions that have moved into where we hunt and is keeping everything pretty spooked. So most of our time has been trying to hunt them down. This weekend I came back in to take care of some business and get more supplies to head back out for another week. Well, I've been eyeballing this park between here and there, and on my way in this time I decided to hit it. It had a little playing field, and you know me, I just can't resist hitting a playing field when I see one. This one turned out t be way better than I expected, but I didn't get to finish hunting before a woman who said she was head of the MUD district there came up questioning me as to what I was doing. I told her that I wasn't digging any holes in the field, and that seemed to satisfy her, and she left. About 15 minutes later I hear some guy coming up behind me raising hell. He comes up and rips my marker flag out of the ground and is hollering at me that they don't allow flags in their field or digging any holes. I tell him I'm not digging any holes, that if I get a target I might use my screwdriver to probe where the object is to retrieve it. He ask what the flags where for and I explain that is how I keep track of the area I'm covering. That calms him down a little and he says I can keep going as long as I don't use flags or dig any holes, but it was OK to use my screwdriver to pry out my targets. He walks off and I decide I had had enough attention for one morning, so I packed everything up. But before I left, I gathered up all the can slaw, a razor blade, a couple of 22 bullets, and other trash I had picked up and headed over to where he was standing. I walked up and introduced myself, and explained that I wasn't trying to damage his park in any way, and then showed him all of the trash I had found and removed from his precious park. His attitude turned around 100% when he saw the bullets and the debris I had collected. We then talked for about 30 minutes and he ended up telling me I was welcome to come back anytime......as long as I didn't dig any holes. Even with all the hassles it turned out to be a golden morning. Not only did I find a bunch of clad, I also found a Chucky Cheese token, a skiing token, a 14K ear ring with some sort of yellowish stone, and last but by far not least, a 14K ruby ring with small diamonds set around the ruby. I'll take a bitching anyday for a morning like this. So now I'm back off to the ranch as soon as I get everything ready, and maybe I'll try it again on my way back.
