and it only took 26 years lol.
i've been taking my camera with me for a while now just in case i found something nice but i never expected something this nice.

here is the field i've been on for the last few days.

i was on it this afternoon for about an hour with only scrap to show for it.
got a signal that i thought was more lead.
dug out some soil(muddy soil at that) and saw the edge of a gold coin.got my camera out and took these.

Beauty!

How can it be you have waited 26 years to find a gold coin and some who only visit the UK on the paid holiday tours have found as many as two or three? Do most serious detector people in the UK have a gold coin to their credit, or are Americans just very lucky. ;)

I think they must use some sort of interesting "grass seed" in those UK detecting tours... ;)

I think this coin should CERTAINLY be on the banner! It took a quarter of a century of persistence for luck to smile on you with this find--it deserves to be up top.

Congratulations Again,

Buckleboy

Oh man... yeah, that was beautiful watching the play by play; I also have never seen photos of a gold coin being dug in sequence like that. They just come out so beautiful!

Awesome coin, and major congratulations on that sweet first. Next up: some HAMMERED gold...

WOW! Nice find!

I could never get such pictures because I wouldn't be able to hold the camera steady... I probably couldn't control my urge to pick it out of the dirt too. Well done, congratulations!
