finally,my first gold coin.

and it only took 26 years lol.
i've been taking my camera with me for a while now just in case i found something nice but i never expected something this nice.

here is the field i've been on for the last few days.

i was on it this afternoon for about an hour with only scrap to show for it.
got a signal that i thought was more lead.
dug out some soil(muddy soil at that) and saw the edge of a gold coin.got my camera out and took these.

its a GEORGE 111 spade guinea 1788.
to say i'm a happy camper would be a slight understatement.

Very nice find m8, but i must point out that you had to nice finds there, looks like a nice worm for fishing to in one of the pics lol....that one thing i miss about liveing in the uk and thats all the good old coins you can find there, nice one again.

I've found a few good gold items, but nothing compares to a true GOLD COIN !!! WTG Mate !!! Now you're over the hump..go out there and find a few more..that's a big field ..gotta be at least one more there !!! Good Luck

How can it be you have waited 26 years to find a gold coin and some who only visit the UK on the paid holiday tours have found as many as two or three? Do most serious detector people in the UK have a gold coin to their credit, or are Americans just very lucky.

Well you do pay a lot. Interesting question.

I know plenty of serious UK detectorists & 10 years is probably a rough average. 20 Years is not uncommon. Took me over 15 years to get me first. Plenty never get one.
Depends alot on the history of the area. I'm still aiming for a Roman or Celtic Gold but its going to be years yet.
