Finally after two or so months I got out. It was mid thirties in town with only a few inches of snow so I figured I would go out and see if I could pull anything from a site I've been to many times. As I started up the mt. Two inches was more like five and I could tell the ground was very hard beneath but I was already out so I kept going. Took a different route along a little brook and came across a little cellar hole, maybe a mill or an out building to one of the cellar holes in the area. Ill wait till spring to do some exploring and figure out whats going on. Didn't want to waste anytime so got right to swinging. Not bad for about two hours. Which most time was spent digging. Few buttons, a lock, shoe buckle, some random decorative piece, and the prize which I believe is a 1820's? Military cap plate. It's a little beat up but thought it was very cool. Thanks for looking.

BEAUTIFUL cap plate!!!

You didn't bother with the little stuff this time! Nice pieces!

It's good you got out when you did we are about to go into polar vortex lock down, again!

We only had about an inch or two here on the ground and it started snowing Sunday morning.
I put zip bags on the M6 and I went a hunt'n! I didn't find anything as good as yours, just clad, but I was extremely happy to be MD'ing. It's going to be a long winter. GL. HH!

And we are about to get a blizzard with a foot of snow! Doesn't this belong in the ski areas?

I would say that this area is going to be good to you! Very nice early relics you have there!

Here in Vermont, snow or not, the ground is frozen about 300 feet down:tongue3: All joking aside..... two weeks ago I wanted to put a cedar post in the ground in our 22x32 barn. Horse barn with a dirt floor. I pounded with an iron bar for about 15 minutes before I gave up. I only made a hole 8"wide x 1" deep. This was during the cold snap but I dont think that I will be MD'ing anytime soon.

Keep posting!! It warms my soul:headbang: VPR

Nice first hunt of '14.

hat device or plate is Krazy kool GL . It has the 1776 Independence date and 13 stars , very awesome relic , probably banner worthy but what di I know you need the Top Finder support for those sort of things ! I like it for what it is , military history .

Thanks guys! Took some hard work getting these relics from the frozen ground so the comments are greatly appreciated. When spring comes ill be going back to hammer these sites. I think I'm just loosing too much depth with the snow and there's a greater chance of ruining a good find digging in this stuff. Good luck to everyone in the new year.

Love the cap plate!!!

I wish I could get out there , just got another 5 inches. Hopefully by mid February most will disappear. Until then, research time!

Super find on that hat plate! Very nice shoe buckle as well. You are absolutely right about damaging relics when digging in frozen ground. It's just not worth it.

Beauty of a relic Tom. Actually drove by your house and saw your truck gone. Figured you might be out huntin'. Congrats.......Todd
