Hey can we post prospecting related items in the for sale section? It's labeled treasure hunting... I'm wanting to sell my bazooka gold trap and RDH mini high banker and would rather sell it here then on CL or Ebay.

if you still have it yes, But you'll need to become a Charter member.

Curious as to why you wanted to sell your Bazooka and which one do you have and asking $? of course I'd guess you have already had several offers but still curious, were/are you not satisfied with performance or?

I've seen a few bazookas for sale in the past few months and I'm also curious why people are selling them.. I'm looking into purchasing my first sluice and dont want to waste a few bills on something that works just ok or not as good as a a52 or le trap etc..

The bazookas work great but they do require several inch deep water. Some folks make be in a low water situation where a Le Trap or Angus Mackirk works better and so decide to sell the bazooka, just guessing...I would never sell mine, I love it! (Was out with it for at least a little while 3 of the last 5 days!!)

Kevin thanks for the response, I was reading your post yesterday about your clean up with the bazooka and AM (nice work btw) and am tempted to get both as well. The things that I'm unsure about with the bazooka is you can’t see how well your doing and also not classifying worries me a little bit about blowing the possibility of bigger pieces away.

If I was to pull the trigger on a BGT would you recommended the Super prospector or standard? For some reason the Super isn't on their website however Todd said they have a few in stock...

I shared your concerns about not being able to see what's happening while you are using the Bazooka but my very consistent results have chased my concerns away. I have seen the supermini and been impressed with it but don't have any exposure to the super prospector so no real opinion there. My regular prospector does great so I'm unsure what benefit you'd get from the super version. By comparison, the regular mini is really too short for the heavies to have time to drop thru the other material I think so the super mini has a real advantage...just my gut opinion tho, having seen both in use but never really tested them side by side. You might just ask Todd directly about the choice and trade offs.

I used my super mini a lot on my last backpacking trip and it works great. One thing that I believe is key with the mini is to screen down to 1/4, this can be achieved with .25 wire mesh zip-tied to the grizzly(look up Astrobouncer's vids) The fluid bed chamber on the mini is very small and this helps big time making it work more efficiently and in clean-outs. Also, running the material wet is best.

Thanks HP & Kevin for the great info and tips.

Now for a completely random topic that I hope has an easier answer... I'm going to be purchasing my sluice within the next few days and am planning on going hiking in NF lands, are placer claims clearly marked if I'm hiking next to the river/creek? I'm going to also be joining a club soon but not before the hike... Just trying to get out and have some fun not piss someone off.

Well, no. Federal Miming Claims have to be marked at the corners and with a 'discovery monument' when initially claimed however, there is no requirement that those markers be maintained over time. So if they are vandalized, eaten by a bear (LOL) or whatever, then the claim may be unmarked but still totally valid.

To learn about claims you have to know the Township/Range/Section of interest (usually easy to get from Forest Service or other local maps) and contact the BLM to learn about any active claims. There are tutorials out there on using the BLM LR2000 web tool to do this look up work.

Thanks for your time!! Hopefully I'll be on here soon with a decent clean up!

Most people who take their claims seriously maintain monuments and markers so I wouldn't worry .

But on the other hand, in northern calif, I have hiked along the river for six miles, knowing there were "wall-to-wall" active claims - nary a sign. (okay, maybe two signs lol)

I sold my bgt because I became allergic to shovel's lol... Truthfully though, they work great I really did not like digging and carrying buckets great distances and to process more material I decided dredging was much better. I used the bgt as a sluice for the dredge but it became more of a pain in the arse then it was worth. You have to have your water flow perfect to the pipes...if you shut down and restarted and didn't get the engine rpms just right you blew gold due to high pressure/flow.
