found a dead woman tonight.....UPDATED

yes you read that right .

I was out detecting tonight in a park / playground an found this woman .I wont go into alot of details , I'll just say I was detecting this park like normal it was around midnight an had detected it an was on my way to leaving when I noticed a pair of shoes up inside the mouth of one of those tube slides that is all twisty , I yelled into the tube no response , beat on the tube no respone , shook the foot with the detector no resonse .

long story short , yes I did call 911 , yes the cops did show up an took care of the scene an took my statement an all of my info.then released me an said go home .

this was a first for me metal detecting an I pray my last , this is not something that I ever wanted to find , I dont know anything about this person other than what I have told you here ,I'm not a religous person but I hope she RIP an her family dont have to suffer threw this .

good morning folks , Well I just got off the phone with the police they had some questions for me , the same ones as last night but what the hey , why where you there ....etc .
The cop I spoke with couldnt go into alot of detail , but told me the young lady was in her early 20's an it looks like an Overdose , they think she either climed up in the tube to get out of the wind or to stay outa veiw while she enjoyed her buzz before she expired.

hello, "tank69" this will stay with you for the rest of your life, but i want you to stop and think about something for just a moment. first of all keep this in mind "god works in very mysterious ways" i beleive that you were the "chosen one" to find this poor young lady. either she was suicidal or she must have been in alot of pain physicaly or mentaly. i myself firmly beleive that you were supposed to be detecting at that park at midnight on that night. you will probably not get them shoes out of your head for a long while. but god only picks the ones as there is a purpuse. its all part of gods big plan. if you ever need to talk heck im a good listener. thank you. I've seen so many dead people in my life that I've finally become a little jaded towards that sort of thing, I guess. Which is a bad way to be, and I apologize, but life makes you what you are. I'm sorry that happened to you Tank. Like everybody else, thank God it was you who found her and not some young child. The girl will probably be just another unknown homeless junkie who died alone, couple of pages in a police report. That's it. My heart goes out to her, and I hope she found whatever it was she was lookin for. I got a daughter about that age.

Oh man Tank that's horrible !! That has got to give you the "willies" . A few weeks ago at one of the spots I detect one of the gardeners pointed out a spot under a tree where he had discovered the body of one of the local alcoholics .He
said the face had been discolored and rigor mortis had set in . Seems like he had been there at least a day and people just walked by . They probably thought it was just " business as usual " . Sad how much misery is caused by addictions . Good for you to talk about it maybe your post may wake someone up . Like one of the previous posters said " that was someone's daughter " . Take care Bud .

Tank, I'm sorry that you had to find something like that. I know from experience that it's something that you can't easily shake from your thoughts. Thank goodness that you noticed her and called the police, imagine trying to explain to the police if someone had seen you around there. "Oh there was a guy with this Geiger counter (metal detector) in his hand, carrying a big knife (a digger), causing damage to the playground (moving the woodchips to recover the clad)....etc.

It's sad that people don't think about the consequences of their actions. Yes, she's dead and has no worry now, but her parents and/or siblings are feeling the pain right now.

Tank - what a sad and creepy find. I know of a story happened in the Cleveland area metroparks, a fellow MD'er dug the top of an old 'charlie chips' can, then the can. It contained a long deceased baby - this made the newspapers. somehow you know that guy hung his detector up for a long time after that. be cool

Wow, I know how you felt, when I was much younger (35 years ago) my family ran a 24 hr wrecker service, I have seen things that aint right for no one to see, I was 19 and we needed all 3 wreckers one night for a really bad wreck, they were looking for human parts in the ditches, I was told to hook this truck and get it on the way to our lot. when I turned into our drive I noticed something flew out of or off of the truck, I stopped and took my flashlight to get it off the road, it was a badly damaged human head. I had no choice but to pick it off the roadway, I will never forget that night, they think it was in the back of the truck, it was what they were looking for so hard in the ditch. Id rather they would of found it!! the bad thing was it was a person I knew well.

I know allot have made jokes an its easier to look at this an try to laugh than it is to let it effect us the way it should an I don't look down on anyone for doing this we all handle things differently .

I agree that what happened was a real waste but it is the world we live in today an I honestly don't see it changing anytime soon, I have 2 daughter around the same age an its a real waste in my eyes.

PS besides my new leasche arrived in the mail yesterday I HAVE to go out an get it dirty an see if it will bend on me .
