🥇 BANNER Found Lots of Arrowheads Today!

Such a perfect-weather day for getting out in the desert, so I decided to hit one of my favorite spots. It's a very long drive to get there so I headed out early.
I was lucky that the winds have been blowing pretty hard recently and uncovered lots of goodies today!

I came up to this spot where there used to be a little sand dune to see these metates and pestle stacked up. This place is very out-of-the-way, and I've never seen signs of anyone else having been here in the 30+ years I've been coming here. And, there was a dune here the last time I was here, so I'm thinking the indians had buried their wares here and they just recently were exposed by the winds!

All in all a fantastic day in the Great Basin desert!

WOW !!!! I had a day like that quite a few years ago at one of my Grandfathers spots he used to take me too,seemed like I was stepping on points every where I turned. Love all your points !!! How cool was it to find stacked metates ! And that is the biggest mono I have ever seen !!! Congrats !!

The projectile heads are beautifully shaped and most are made of what looks like pure white quartz or black obsidian. I'm wondering what peoples made these. They must have had a source of volcanic rock or traded for it. The metates are amazing, too.
I've looked all my life for arrowheads and have yet to find one. I'm obviously not in the right place!

Hi Almy, these were made by Northern Paiutes. They had many local sources for obsidian, cherts and agates of various colors.
