I have always wondered how do people find such old coins when detecting...well they dig like I did! My husband an I had just arrived at a site to detect when the very first beep was a 36 on my Minelab xterra 505. I dug about 6 inches and this tiny coin popped out of the clump of dirt. I yelled to my husband I think this is really old! I could barely make out a mans head (very worn) on the coin, the date on my coin is 1798 (I think) or 17-8, its hard to make out one number on the coin. After some research we found someone else on treasure net found one too, which helped me identifying my coin. I just love detecting finding a coin that someone lost over two hundred years ago is worth digging for!

Congrats on Silver Spanish oldie. I'm still looking for mine.:headbang:

Just a note to consider on any coin, specially one that is so worn. Its very unlikely to have been lost over 200 years ago, much more closer to 150.

PS. I said the above assuming its 1798, just had a closer look, it maybe 177?
