Generous Silver Coin Day That Included A Barber Quarter & Dime/Updated with 2-10

With a forecast for rain, I decided to go out anyways. I hate sitting at home kicking myself in the butt because I decided to listen to the weatherman, yet the weather turned out good. I prepared regardless with a pastic bottle for the back of my machine and some plastic bags to wrap around the housing. It was a good move because it would drizzle on and off. In any event, the day was perfectly detectable, and it turned out to be a whole lot better than expected. Things started out really slow, with over an hour in and nothing good turning up. Finally, a mercury dime comes up followed by a couple others including a 1910 Barber dime. At one point, I managed to find a surface silver Rosie (Four coins caught on film) that was laying right under the leaves. This could've been a detectorist's drop, only the dime knows. Up to seven coins, I get what appears to be a good dime signal. I dig through the rockiest plug and out comes what I at first thought was a token of some sort. It wasn't shiny and pretty beat up, typical of alot of the aluminum and other tokens I've found. It took a while before I realized that what I had was in fact a Barber Quarter. First Barber Quarter, first connection into 1800's silver and best total silver day. (2/9/2008). There is a part two to this story because the next day it was Tom's turn. To give him the opportunity to post, all I will say is that as soon as he was unleashed...........he pulled one of my (Get there, lay the coil and pull out a silver coin stunts). I myself snagged some more coins.........with no way to take a photo of them because my camera finally succumbed to all the dirt, dust and other crap I put it through. Maybe later on in the day I can get someone here at work to scan them for me. I will put out a video of 2/9 as soon as I can prepare it. Photos attached.

In response to depth questions, I'll post depths I can remember........

Deepest coin=A merc that came out of 7"
Shallowest coin=The 1910 dime at 2 1/2'
The Barber=5 to 5 1/2"
The really shallowest coin=The surface silver
Average depth in my opinion for silver at this place 4-5"

wow, not saving any for the next hunt.... You had an great day. Congratulations on your first Barber Quarter. ;D ;D

Any of the coins deep? Conditions for us here on Saturday were ideal and the deep stuff was coming in good.

Outstanding. I am doing something wrong because I cannot seem to find any deep older silver. Everything I find is shallow.

Those are great finds! I would love to find an older quarter. Way to Go Ricardo!

Fantastic finds, Ricardo. Sure beats sitting at home, huh? ;D

You are starting to suck that silver out of your parks at an increasingly higher rate. Congrats on breaking into the 1800's with that Quarter.
Can't wait to see your vid!!

Those old NY parks are really producing well for you, WTG on the old silvers. Don't listen to the weather people, if you feel it will be a good day, it may just turn out that way.

Re: Generous Silver Coin Day That Included A Barber Quarter & Dime/Updated with 2-10

Congrats on your first Barber Quarter! It's not really that bad, since the date is clearly visible and it will probably clean up well if you do decide to clean it.
