:hello:

The last couple of weeks I have been getting used to the Xp Deus, it's always a big learning curve when starting out with a new machine. So bearing this in mind I took it back to one of my old sites, right on a Roman road, with a Bath house close by.

Mainly 17th-18th century finds were the only oldies I could get, a few nice buckles and the usuall coppers, then I plucked a small brooch right of the top, with the pin still there...great I was off and on the Roman, but it took another field to get the second...another brooch, then another.. 3 brooches in one day..a first for me.

Later in the day I managed a couple of Silver finds, Elizabeth 1st 1573 Threepence, and a Open Top/Tailors Silver Thimble, made my James Fenton. I had to smash the hammerd out of a piece of earth, that was like concrete, there's a good picture of how I first saw the coin...Have a look

Great stuff, love old silver.

So after 2 weeks how you liking the new machine ?
Would you recommend it to friends ?
Have you found anything depth wise, your other detector would not have found ?

Hi Rick...I have only been working two programs, one is the XP Goldmax program, and a Gmax program I was using today. One of the buckles was abouit 8" deep, but I would expect most machines would find that. So nothing special depth wise. But it's a very light machine to use, which is the main reason I bought it, because of elbow joint problems.:icon_thumleft:

Quite a fantastic day you had! Glad you're getting used to the Deus, and it seems that your finds are still solid! Great to see your fantastic recoveries posted here, my friend. Keep up the excellent work.

Cheers,

Looks like you had twice the fun with your new Deus. That is one very sweet buckle and pence. I see the hallmarks clearly on your silver thimble, any info?

Well it was made by James Fenton, have'nt looked much at the year date, it looks like a Y..(1898) I will have to work out which type it is, but he was a Silver smith & Thimble maker during the years..1890-1901.

That was the main reason for me getting one, even though the goldmaxx was light, it left my elbow aching at the end of each hunt.

That's a very nice assortment of finds SS. Although I'm definitely partial to silver I really like those huge buckles. Nice detail on the Lizzie too.

I missed this fantastic post ..... very good results ! :icon_thumleft: ... although not imagine a British hard man with the Deus ..... is more to continental sensitive hunters. :laughing9:
