Went out to my spot again and found these nice goodies... A 1917 buffalo, 1941Jefferson, 1943-D-Australia-6-Pence-British-Empire-Silver-Coin, 1915 Mexican revolution 10 centavos coin, 1945 Mexican 20 centavo, a dog tag, 3 tokens and what looks like a military pin.... Not a bad day!

Thank you... Notice the typo on my title for some reason it came out that way after i corrected it.

Excellent finds

I see a Military dog tag there. Worth looking for a name. If it's mine, let me know.

Nice finds.

Lol, yeah and its from here too. It would be nice to find the owner, but i doubt it cause its from a 1920's dump site

It's killing me

I just looked at the weather. com for my town. -5 snow on the ground (6 inches, approx)
Guess I'll be in the library researching! Ha
I might take a walk in a spot later today to look for surface bottles, I'm ready for spring now!

WHOOPS, thought I was posting a new thread

Awesome coins man

WOW!!!
Great finds and a couple make me wonder if they are related. The ribbon appears to be a USA/USAF Presidential Unit Citation Award with two oak leafs. Means this unit won it three times. Here is a list of the award dates and branches of service. Very awesome unit that this came from.

Just wonder if the award was to the owner of the dog tags.
I love digging history!!!
Thanks for sharing.

In looking at the list of awards, not many units won it three times. One possibility was U.S. Army 11th Armored Calvary Regiment from the Vietnam War.

Great finds! Your dog tag is for Alfred Stevens, who was given his tetanus shots in 1941 and 1943, so obviously a WW2 veteran. The address for his next of kin should help you hunt down any living relatives. I am sure some descendant would be honored to have that dog tag back in the family. I foresee an "Honorable Mention" in your future! Happy Hunting, Sub 8-)

That's interesting. I didn't know they listed shots or next of kin on dog tags. They have changed over the years and none of that appears on mine.
:)
The spouse or next of kin on the tag does appear to be listed in El Paso still. But not Alfred.

i will be there today. i gots to get out of the house. i am going crazy. need to get some dirt on my hands. lololololol great finds see ya soon buddy

Award COULD still be related to the dog tag. I see in the awards list a three-pete by the 442nd Regimental Combat Team in France 1944. And also U.S. Army 1st Battalion, 43rd Air Defense in Korea 1951. Both good possibilities to help link the dog tag with the ribbon you found. Actually the date of the coins, dog tag and ribbon, it may tie the entire find to WWII veteran Alfred Stevens of El Paso, TX. This is VERY intriguing to me!!! Does it show?
