Hello all... thought I would share this little story with you. My Grandfather passed 3 years ago and had passed some things down to us grandkids. One of the items that he had left for me was an old cigarette lighter. Why he passed it down, i wasnt so sure.. but it was cool looking anyway. So im messing around with it and notice the top wont close properly. Upon taking it apart i discovered stuffed inside was this small gold coin! Pretty neat, I was thrilled. I dont know anything about coins, but I thought I would share with some people that may know a little more than I do. Thanks for reading!

Wow.......what a special gift!

Funny how so many of us stash kewl things in special places. I will be smiling from above when my girls have to go through my things and find all the little treasures I've left here and there for them. I gotta start writing down where I stash things, as I even forget.....lol. As to why people do this.....for me it's just that I have a wicked sense of humor.

Not many newbies come up with a gold coin maybe it should be voted for the banner :icon_thumright:

I have read that during the 1940's and before, some people carried gold coins for "emergencies".

:)

 That was so cool. He did that for a reason you must know that by now. :read2:
