Gold Gilt Matchsafe

Gypsy Heart · Jul 18, 2007

Found this matchsafe while hunting along the sandy hill of a river earlier this month. It looks to be gold gilt but I cannot find any makers mark on it. This is the way it came out of the ground... I havent even wiped it off. Where the gilt is gone it seems to be copper underneath. Any ideas on maker?

Is there a removable liner? Perhaps the mark would be on it somewhere.

No Jeffro, there isnt.

Thanks Nana

McSancho...Never heard of Kenner for matchsafes. Do you have any info on what you are referring to ?

That's a stunning find!

I wouldn't touch it until you can ID the maker.

Congratulations!

Just an idea, but it may have been a promo item provided by one of the tobacco companies and therefore, no brand name on it. ??

Great find Gypsy!!

Was there any traces of anything inside of it? Besides sand...

Smiles!
