halves bags?????????

I have now been thru 6 bags of halves from the same bank and all were total skunks. The bags are sealed plastic bags,
the rolls are crimped on one end and probably ten or so of the rolls are broken open. Nothing on the bag indicates the supplier. Super nice tellers but is this going nowhere? Advice please.

You are buying someones dumps. Bags normally don't have any wrapped coins in them. Someone is searching in your area,re-wrapping some and then when he gets the bag full, he seals it and dumps it at your bank. Not fun for you but there are no guarantees with this hobby/sickness. Maybe you can find another bank that he isn't dumping at. Or, you might have to get a little bit out of his territory. Try bringing a nice box of chocolate to the girls at your bank and then pump them for answers. They will tell you a lot about your competition. Cheers, Jim

That is exactly what is happening. BoA gave me 20 or so bags that I could dump in my half's in when I came to deposit them.
They shipped them off and later credited my account when they were counted off site.

I recently was on a road trip and dumped $250 or so at a bank branch about 60 miles from my home. In order to dump, the teller required that we roll our halves.

As we were rolling them, she said "I'll put these in a bag, and send them back to Brinks."

I buy bags of coin from my bank all the time, fresh-rolled non crh-dumps, mostly from retail business accounts. Never halves though.
One credit union requires coin coming in to be rolled. Then the tellers break open the rolls and bag the loose coin, to be shipped out. Every place is different.

the only thing I question is that they order the bags on monday, need to know each monday how many bags I want and then they are delivered on thursday and they call me when they come in/ Sun Trust. They may be coming from another branch I dont know./

Doug, the carrier that services your bank has a warehouse with a big vault in it. Stacked on pallets are bags and boxes of coins. Depending upon what your bank orders from the carrier, you could be getting top of the pile or bottom of the pile. Bottom would be better. Depending how big an area they serve, you could actually be getting your coins back week to week.
If you are dumping outside the carriers area, you will be searching virgin coins that you haven't seen before. If you are dumping near where you are getting coins, you could be searching your dumps. Cheers, Jim

Funny you mention Suntrust. Most CU's where I live can't take advantage of the coin banks the other banks have. Suntrust worked a deal with all the CU's in my area to deliver to them. I don't know where Suntrust has their main Coin Vault but I have never received a silver half from any Suntrust in my area. They always have the half's when I ask but they have not had any goodies yet. My CU said they would order me half dollars , couple of months ago said they didn't deal in half dollars for ordering. Manager said Suntrust is where he gets all his coin orders and his shipments out go to Suntrust.....
