It is their second artifact found on their property. I'm so excited for them! We're located in western Ohio. Does anyone have any ides of which culture this would be from?

The only way to tell the age would be to find pottery or points in association with it. With most native tools the technology didn't change for thousands of years.
I hope somebody can weigh in with an identification of it, it's quite a bit different than the axes & hammers I've seen. Very cool artifact. Tell them to get back out there & find some more!
They found a point earlier this spring. (I guess that's the proper name, we're inexperienced we called it an arrowhead) I will see if I can get a pic. It is very nice.
Nice looking point. See if you can get us a few more pictures of that hammer, I'm curious about that flattened underside in the middle photo. There's a member on here named Grim Reaper who is knowledgeable about artifacts from your area and may be able to tell us a little more about it.
Looks like a Archaic Ax head. Its nice but more pics would help to get a better I.D. on it to be sure. Has the look of a Trophy Ax in design but I see no bit on it so could be a preform or a Hammer.
