Well some of my Thoughts were that if they was buried in the head waters of the rivers some would be under 30 feet of water or even more. I know along the Ohio a lot of Locks were built . In the building of them. The water level was raised considerably so ships could go up and down the rivers hauling Ore. That would leave the plates under water.

Looked for the Lead Plates
A lead plate was buried near the mouth of the Muskingum River in present day Harmar by Captain Joseph Pierre Bienville de Celoron (1693-1759) on August 15, 1749. It was the fourth such marker placed by Celoron's Expedition on his trip down the Ohio River.

I think he placed 7 of them in 1749. Just wondering if anyone has put any time into them ?

In western ny at the headwaters of the genesee supposedly a lead plate is burried by the french king Louie. Claiming the land I think it's in gold pa right across the border but I've never searched for it as i chalked it up as being found and turned into lead balls
