- I actually haven't done this for years. I'm currently looking at beginner models and thought this forum could possibly help me with a decision.

I'm just starting out. A few years ago, the kids and I dug up our backyard using a metal detector, but other than that, I haven't done a lot of digging except for with my grandpa when I was in grade school. I've had an interest in this hobby for a while, though, and now that I'm basically an empty nester, it's time to do some of the things I enjoy doing and have an interest in. This goes along perfectly with my odd obsession for ghost towns.
