Help ID stone type please, is it some type of granite

I find this stone in my creek while hunting for native american artifacts and wondering what stone type it is. This one is worked but doesn't look like it in the pics. Found in Western NC Piedmont. Thanks for looking!

Looks like mica schist. We have a lot of that in southwest Virginia.

It has quartz in it so not a granite like shawman said maybe a schist mix. Preform I think
