Would you kindly help me identify this? Is it a Cob? Found a "cache" very encrusted "coins" stuck to a rock. They were disguised. Local beach. Miami. Im happy as a lark, but try as I may I can't identify them:BangHead: they're all different; some very thick; some very large; some have an indentation in the center; some have crosses; some look like cobs some look Asian/Indian.
Desperate, I mistreated first batch with chemicals (thus pitted silver). This is one of the cleaner ones. Can you help me please? I will post others soon.

Here are pics of the rock where these pretties lived, how the "coins" were found, and other coins.
I need to know if anyone recognizes any of the symbols, please.

Here is one that is thick and has an indent or "hole" on the other side filled with stones (may be semiprecious);

one that looks like it has the silhouette of a Bishop;

a larger one that's very thick, with symbols on the side! This one may be a "trinket" box as it appears to have a "lid" that is encrusted. Please help me identify these. Been to coin shops; bought books, searched Atocha treasures....no-thing. Nobody knows anything. I can't find exact information; and nobody knows anything.

The round items are not attracted to a magnet, correct?

Oh, wow! Thanks. Interesting to find that in the Ocean. Would it have belonged to a phone company or is it also possible to any building with a switchboard?

To me the round items appear to be steel slugs produced when punching holes in steel with a heavy punch press. The slugs then were exposed to salt water for a period of time. Of course if they are not attracted to a magnet this could be ruled out.

If this is ruled out then I would get them tested for silver content. A jeweler would be able to do this for you if you don't have a test kit.

Thank you, Steve.
After cleaning one can see some markings. I believe (and hope) they are old merchant bale seals or coins but I havent been able to identify them CAM03948.jpg CAM03951.jpg CAM03952.jpg CAM03953.jpg CAM03954.jpg CAM03955.jpg CAM03956.jpg CAM03957.jpg CAM03958.jpg CAM03959.jpg CAM03960.jpg CAM03961.jpg CAM03962.jpg
