Can we all just get along? I mean really, there is no reason to hate anyone or their actions regardless of what it is. It doesn't solve anything.

Really? You don't think he said it to cent sorters? Let's look at it Jeff.

The "it" is specifically how people make money or make it worth their time to sort cents. Not copper tubing, but cents. That is the topic of the thread, and the topic of this question. the answer was brief. One sentence.

<<They scrap it by the Ton, which is illegal.
>>

The they MUST be the subject of the question, which is cent sorters. No other option. the fact that he posted a picture of copper tubing doesn't change the subject of the thread. Penny sorters. The "they" means people like me. Period.

<<But I don't see him accusing anyone here of scrapping pennies by the ton>> Then read it from the beginning. "I" said that I have tons of copper pennies. Someone asked how that makes financial sense for me and the others to do it, and he responded that "they" sell it by the ton, which is illegal. I think that is a pretty direct line and says he is accusing ME, among other people, of illegally selling copper cents for scrap. I know you want to keep peace, but even as a peacekeeper you shouldn't try to undo the attack that was done. You should just stop it. As for "it was a joke". Really? It was crude, that's what it was. There was no smiley face implying it was a joke. Just ANOTHER crude comment by a man who has had a history of saying nasty things on this forum.

If you want the forum to be popular, you can't allow attacks to stay on the board without removing them. So-called joke or not. The new attitude is the reason a LOT of old-timers have LEFT this board - me now too! And WE are the ones who gave ADVISE, instead of mocking others. Yep, a different attitude. Sorry you side with the insulting nasty attitude of the new CRh'er instead of the helpful one that USED to exist here. I've always appreciated your input before. I'll let it go, as you ask. I'm going to let the whole site go. Since the site has let itself go all by itself, as this once again proves.

Once again, I include MYSELF in this group of Cent Sorters. I'm not insulting anyone, if I was I would be insulting myself. Please read my above two posts, I'm assuming you either: 1) Took time writing this response and consequently could not see my two latest posts on the thread or 2) I was on some sort of ignore mode (ie, ignore this user) after you saw my first post. Otherwise I cannot see why you would write this response after I formulated my own two. I even apologized that you took it personally (50cent almost never apologizes by the way), so I don't see or understand WHY you are so negative as to the point of trying to get me banned?

I go back and forth between cents and nickels. When I began this hobby a year and a half ago I was just searching cents. Within the first couple of weeks I found several Indian heads, a '31s and dozens of others in the $5-$10 range. Now I realize that was very unusual and must have been a collection that got into circulation. Lately I'm more focused on finding silver war nickels but I still buy all the customer rolled cents I can.

Hey man, whatever floats your boat. If you want to leave you can. If you are that offended by it then hey, leave. We're entitled to do what we want. It's your call not ours. No one can stop you.

Only 50Cent knows for sure what he meant by it. Even if he did direct it towards you or anyone I think he was kidding, and I really think that was a sincere apology, and I'm really good at telling whether people are being sincere or not. I don't usually give people a lot of credit when it comes to apologies.

I started doing cents (on a mass scale) two years ago. I've been collecting coins of all types since about 1961. Stopped collecting about 1987 when my dad died, so did my interest in collecting. Wasn't until about two years ago (2011) while talking with my 14-yr old grandson about my massive collection, that my dad and I accumulated, that got my interest started again. Have 12 grandchildren, my wish is to give them all a near complete collection of Lincoln's (1909-1939 about 60% complete, 1940-current at 99% complete). I want to leave them something to remember ME by, and yet still search for some missing key & semi-key dates on their own. The best part of penny collecting is the HUNT for the missing ones. Doesn't seem to be much fun to go to a coin shop and just buy the missing. While still trying to find the "best of the best" for the grandkids, I'm also doing the AG thing, with hopes to subsidize my social security down the road if I have to go that route. Currently I was getting about 2-boxes of cents per week, with about 12-20 wheats per box, along with saving the Copper as a future investment as 1-cent sold as 1.5 cents is a 50% return. Who knows when cents will go off the market, and if so, how high copper could go. I don't have tons, but I've got the rest of my life to work at it however.

i just started cents about a month or so ago. ive done about 25 boxes. i average about 15 wheats per box (but then had a 50+ box once), and my copper average is about $6.75/box. i have found 1 IH so far. I also just started nickels and have done 10 boxes, finding 10 war nickels and 6 buffalo nickels (including a 1916D). i have no idea if that is a good average or not, but considering that those numbers came from 4 boxes of nickels (with 6 being skunks), I would assume that i just had a good streak there with a few boxes!

I do about 3-5 boxes of cents a week

I sort approx $1000 a week in pennies. I'm averaging just over 20% in So Cali. I have sold a few thousand dollars local for 1.5x face. It was the easiest money I have ever made. It is fun if your into pennies... If not stick to other denominations.

Whoa. How do you do it?! Even with a ryedale?! I'm assuming you can dump in bags? You lucky person. I'm so jealous right now. If I could dump in bags, had the money, and supply to do 4-5 boxes a day I would, even with going to school. I'm sooo addicted to pennies. I just have to reroll because I don't have the money for chase to send my bags out and wait to get it counted. :/ I need a lot more money so I can just go and spend $10 in gas a week driving around dropping off some bagged dumps at chase and pick up $700-$1,000 in cents all around the area. I'm limited to my town right now because of my bankroll situation. I can't wait until Christmas and my 18th birthday come so I can open up all the checking accounts I need and have a LOT more money in my bankroll. I'm really tempted to sell like everything I own to increase my bankroll.

Thats why I never get any copper down here in socal

..I do about 3-5 boxes a week..I know some think its a waste of time...But Its cheap...i have actually lucked out by finding silver in customer rolled coins..and I have a goal of finding an IH one day

I find about 30% copper (Most the time). Buti mainly do it to fill up books with AU/BU coins....Im more a coin collector then a copper hoarder...so for me its just the hope of finding a rare coin.

I usally do Halves and Dimes...But lately the banks have been balking on the halves

I just found a silver Rosie last week in mwr

I have done pennies for over a decade and at one point I did accumialte over 26,000 in wheats and over 7,000 in steel pennies, and then sold them all!!! ofcourse I did start over at that point in time, back to about 1,000 now again doing about $100 a week, we never stop! haha

Zero boxes per week. I pick up CWR cents from a few banks that give me all their CWRs. I am a lazy cent searcher and don't look for errors. I set aside the wheats and foreign and dump the rest (I would save an indian head if I found one). I find a fair number of clad dimes in penny rolls, whcih is a bonus. Tried culling and selling copper cents once but I lost money due to a shipping problem and haven't saved copper since. So, I am putting all sorts of copper (and probably errors) back into circulation for you cent searchers.

yeah but that is over a decades worth of searching and collecting, plus 4years of that as a teller too! lol

When I started this hobby I got 20 fed rolls the eighth roll was a 1904 IH, strange.

Haha selling everything for a bank roll isn't too bad :tongue3:
