I think I know what this is, but I figured I should throw my hat in the ring here first.


The item appears to be made of lead. It has a hole that goes all the way through it from the side, and the flat end also has a hole that goes part of the way into the piece.

It is a house site find.


And it is lead--so I would imagine it would melt if heated.

Curtain weights are from the size of a nickel to a dollar,
they are round and flat with slots so they can be sewn through like buttons.
