I started out today, deciding on door knocking. Drove to 6 older homes (on the 1874 map). 4 no answers, 2 no's. I thought what the heck let's check out some parks and schools. Didn't have a good day for swinging my coil over many coins. I did go to a school built in 1922. I was wandering around looking for targets. I did see that along the front steps there may have one been some shrubs that have been removed. On one side of the steps I dug my 1st target a 1919-S Merc. and went to the other side of the steps and dug a 1935 wheat. I headed off across the lot, did a stroll down and back hoping I'd find a 3rd nice coin.

I got a nice hit (rang in at 71-72). It sounded shallow... I am excited, believing I'd have found 3 coins and all 3 keepers. I got down on my right knee, pulled out the pro pointer, and yes it's not deep. I pull my Lesche tool and push it in about 1.5 inches down in the soil, & about 1 inch away from the target. The plan was to simply pry it to the surface. As I pryed, a slit of earth opened and all I saw was an eye peaking out of the ground. Kind of freaked me out, but I pryed it out and here it is. The eye is one of those plastic ones that always look up, no matter how you roll it.

Wow!! we don't find anything like that out here on the left coast. All we have is new stuff they won't let you look for. And if you do, they arrest you.

Yeah, digging a hole and seeing something looking back is pretty weird. You just never know what's gonna' show up next. It's an interesting find though; not to mention the other keepers that showed up on that hunt. The silver and wheaties are always great finds; so belated congrats to you.
