Well I have been using a Whites V3 for a few years now and really like the machine. Had a chance to pick up an Minelab Etrac for a real good price and thought, why not. Sold all my gold finds and some old car parts I had and bought it. Cost me $250.00 out of pocket. Not bad.
Today was my maiden voyage with the Etrac. Went to a couple places that are not really accessible in the spring/summer. Did pretty good. First real find was an early copper King George (left facing). Think its 1750's - 60's but not totally sure. Next hit was a silver pocket watch cover with some nice engravings on it. Says "Fahys Coin No. 1" on back. Also has H112 and a few initials but no dates engraved. Also found an amusement token, crotal bell & a silver bullet looking thing? It's filled with lead but not sure what it is.
All in all I am very happy with the new machine and can't wait to get involved with it some more.

Brian

you should sell that E-trac, its no good, it'll break, poor service by minelab, no real depth capabilities, doesn't work in the cold, only finds pennies. :tongue3:

Wow, :o

That watch back is really nice !! :headbang:

Good hunting, great deal on the Etrac !! :icon_thumleft:

Keep @ it and HH !! :laughing7:

And all that was found with about three inches of snow still on the ground.

Never used one, but from where I am sitting, the E-trac has been tearing it up really well. I think it very well may be my next machine.

Looks like your on the right track, Brian ::) E-trac is in my future too. Hope you can really pull in the goods from down under now :icon_sunny:

With finds like that I would like it too @! Keep searching and keep us posted ! MaineRelic.

Great digs :headbang: :headbang: Your copper is the KGII younger head type 1720's-30's I think and looks like a farthing. The real find of the day was that coin silver pocket watch cover. That thing is AWESOME. I've never seen one that was made from coin silver, or at least marked as such. :o I'd go back and search for the other half. 1830's-40's is my guess.

good hunt Brian! love the watch back! I got a large cent today too!

killer stuff Brian! i agree with the others, the watch back was the find of the day, and thats saying something since you got a king george as well! the croatal bell is pretty cool too!

That bullet is an unusual find, looks like a Winchester Silvertip (tm) probably .40 S&W or .9mm, an unfired pull from the looks of it. Reminds of when I found an unfired .380 in the middle of a beach children's playground last year. Somebody playing with one of daddy's bullets and dropped it, probably. :o

Gratz on the new E-Trac. I was looking real hard at getting one a couple weeks ago, ended up getting a new Fisher F-75 Special Edition because the last E-trac was sold out the day before I got there. *hehe* I'll get the E-trac soon enough to go with my V3 and F-75 SE. They all have their pros and cons.

Good start with a good detector. (Coin is 1729-39)

Agreed! The engraving on those are always so pretty. Fantastic find! Congrats on all the keepers! :icon_thumright:

Nana :)

And when you're ready to throw it away, let me know where you toss it so I can pick it up.

Nice finds. That penny is sweet and a good start (by a long shot!).
