Irish Harp Penny

[GioTheGreek]

My buddy found this one tonight.

I can't seem to ID it online. I know it is Irish, but I don't see one with a left facing head. Does anyone have any info on it?

He said the date looks like a 1 or 7. Sorry about the pics.

Possibly George the 4th. Hibernia maybe. Nice find

I do believe it is a canadian token, and not actually Irish. Will update / edit in a couple of minutes.

Yep. so called "Imitation bust & harp" 1820.

Book says probably produced a little later.

Fairly certain this is a match for you........... Nice find. My photo is in a friends collection who I cataloged last year. (Which IP ID'd for me over a year ago)

Coins and Canada - Imitation Bust and Harp - 1/2 penny 1820 - Pre-confederation commercial tokens

The bad thing about the dug ones is trying to count the strings, or make out any possible overdate.

Once again, you guys are Aces.

Thanks a ton for the info.
