Thanks to all TreasureNetters who are voting for Jack. Here is a copy of the letter of protest I emailed to the company about the contest. Stickmarsh
Hello Kuranda,
This is a letter of protest regarding the current Dog of the Month contest. It is my understanding that this was a contest for family pet owners and not for a national organization such as Leader Dogs for the Blind. The Leader Dog program is a wonderful program, and they provide a much needed and valuable service. However, it is my understanding that organizations are not permitted to enter the contest. Perhaps I misunderstood the rules, or perhaps this was an oversight on your part. Perhaps the rules were skirted by a private owner, Janice White (Firecracker litter), entering the contest, and then using her association with Leader Dogs for the Blind to remove any doubt about the outcome. Had I known that an associate with Leader Dogs for the Blind was entered in the contest, I never would have entered my dog, Jack.
No one person (dog) can compete against a national organization such as Leader Dogs for the Blind. They have a national presence on Facebook that is being used to solicit votes nationwide (7,061 people like Leader Dogs for the Blind on Facebook). The other dog owners have absolutely no chance of winning.
I thought about asking you to remove my dog's entry from the contest. However, I concluded that this would not be respectful of the friends, family members, and other individuals who have voted for and continue to vote for Jack.
Perhaps a second place prize is in order for the runner up. Better yet, perhaps all of the dogs this month should receive a second place prize, as this was never a real contest considering the competition included an affiliation with a national organization.
Jack still loves his Kuranda bed, and we think that you manufacture great products. I will be ordering a new fleece cover for Jack's bed sometime in the next few weeks.
Best regards,
