Hello everyone,

Been really busy lately. But finally getting the chance to get up pics of the finds made while out with Dan (Danimal) and his Son Spencer for a hunt.

Thanks alot guys for making the drive down to see me. I really expected alot more finds to come out of the area. Some days are better than others.

It is extremely hard to predict how a day will go. Unfortunately I was the only one that day to come up with some keepers. I think Dan and Lance found a few old coins.

But for the most part of the day I made the finds. Witch included as soon as we got to the site a 1846 Large cent.

I felt bad because Dan, is still looking for his first. I would have loved to see him dig it.

I had a great time though. Dan is a great guy and alot of fun to hang out with. I hope we can do it again sometime. Hopefully the next one will be a winner for everyone.

Not all of the items shown were found that day. I've been out on my own a few times.

I did recover one of thee nicest antique silver rings I ever saw. It was down about 10 inches in a sandstone packed dirt rd. It was so powder white and grey it wasn't spotted at first when it came up.

I am running short on time here so I can't get to explain everything. I got a thing called a job I have to get ready for here shortly.

I've been working on these pics and story all day. Hope you all like the finds and write up.

HH Jer

I'd say that's a good days hunt. I really like that cameo. Looks like you had a good time and the pics are great. Keep em swinging!

Nice finds guys. Still looking for my first large cent too. Not too many good sites to detect for old coins down here, not without driving a hundred miles anyway. Good luck and H.H.

Very nice. That cameo is beautiful.

HH!

Congrats Guys.
Very nice group of finds. That silver ring with blue stone is a beauty. ;D Nice relics too.
Is Dan eating dog bisquits again? ;D
-MM-

great stuff! how do you get those copper coins to clean up so nice? that ring cleaned up nicely too. its a real keeper!

You are right. That silver ring is AWESOME! I would imagine you all had a wonderful time and that is what is important. Super finds though Jer! If you ever find out I would love to know the value of that ring. Tis a beauty!

I was lucky enough to meet Mirage one day last fall
so it's cool you got to get out with Dan and Spencer on this day.
Sounds like it was a lot of fun. I think every find in that group photo
looks like a great treasure to me. Congrats to you all. Thanks for sharing
your great day out there!

Smiles!

Jeremy,
My camera got wet (camelback leaked all over it on the way back from PA) and I've got it apart to dry so I haven't had a chance to post pics yet.
Thanks for having Spencer and I over. We did have a lot of fun even w/out any new coins checked off my list. One of the nickles I got from that pocket spill ended up being a buff, so I guess that'd be my best coin. Two others were first year Jeffersons.
Some of the other relics I dug were QUITE old, old copper label with some inscriptions and a star of David on it...a headbadge from a VERY old bicycle, etc., as well as the Decatur blob top bottle. One of the "thingies" I dug ended up being part of a trigger mechanism from an old gun.

To those asking what kind of area...in general, it's a wooded area right smack dab in an old city that used to have a road w/homes on it. Judging by the glass everywhere and the stacked stone foundations, some of the homes dated to the early 1800s. The city it was in was founded in the 1700s. There was a TON of trash to contend with, so I basically hunted in DC (pinpoint) and only dug target that were small and deeper. Seeing as how several things Jeremy found weren't terribly deep, maybe I missed a few good targets doing so...but hey...live and learn.
Spencer had fun hanging with Jeremy's son too, except when he started throwing rocks and acorns at his head. Spencer said it didn't really hurt and was really kinda funny. The terrain was VERY hilly and wore me out.
Sorry I didn't stay for the promised beers, but I wanted to drive home, shower and sleep in a familiar bed. No doubt subsequent hunts here would keep producing good finds.
This is an important thing that it seems some THers in PA and elsewhere east seem to either forget or don't include in their self-judgement of their own finds. Some areas like we hunted just REEKED of history! I have hunted a LOT of areas in Ohio and have never, ever FELT that I was in such an old area! From broken bottle shards to the standing homes in the surrounding neighborhoods...PA just must be one of the best states to be involved in this hobby to live in. Make no mistake about it...I plan on many more trips towards the east, where this country of ours was founded. Where millions of people lived and worked while frontier folks were trying to settle the Western Reserve in Ohio while fighting off Native Americans.
Starting to ramble now....Thanks again Jeremy and say hello to your bro and son and wife and little one for me!
