Reminds me of a thread on another forum some years back when a guy claimed to have dug a stone mint 1856 flying eagle cent, first few people were tripping over themselves to congratulate him but it went downhill quick and he was exposed as a fraud.
Wondering what the odds are of a guy in Kentucky finding ancient coins anyhow, would be a bit more believable if he was from Greece or something.

I take a hand full of ancient coins in the u.s. as a potential Child's cache or drop.
not out of the question.

His banner finds were my concern. I'm glad you removed his tags and posted notes.

when it seems every member & their Brother is hitting Banner on a perfectly clean Find,
& the member is not a newbie ,
I take for granted the members trust this person enough to be voting en masse.
and after 24 Hours start preparing to add it.

I have in the past accepted public apologies from new members
who got caught up in all the kudos thrown at others & made the mistake of faking a find. especially when our members accept that apparent heartfelt apology.

but when they are here long enough to be considered a member of our family.
know there is banner votes , and let it be bannered that is too big an issue
to be considered an error in judgement.

You know what kills me about this post... errr thread.

I took it for face value due to the long standing status of the member... and the other finds / acceptance of those finds...

But what struck me weird AFTER I hit the enter button on my OP was...
This person should have had the sense that what he (supposedly) had found were coins... not seals.

I was thinking "what is this guy blind".

where he stole the pic, it said they were coins.
apparently seals was an attempt to throw members off

as I said, could have been a kids collection also.
it's apparent they had little to no real value.

shipping was more then the winning bid

Something is not right with this...
It seems this guy should have known better... as in... he should know / have known... that members "check up" on posts like these.

Makes ya wonder if he did this on purpose just to see if he can get away with it.

yes he even skirted around using the word dug :laughing7:

maybe thinking he had plausible deniability :tongue3:

if he had said he found them on the Net or Ebay, I would have simply moved the thread. no harm no foul

I reported this guy with proof last year. The mod (I forget which one) said thanks, and he is now banned. But then I noticed he was still around. Maybe he sweet talked his way out of it? When I saw him posting again I just scroll and ignore.

although I think I remember that Slightly.
if it is the one I'm thinking of.

After the Initial ban the member contacted me, & somehow convinced me
he did nothing wrong & I retracted the Ban.

Since I don't remember the Whole story & he was granted a stay of execution.
Discussion of it in public is not allowed. so Just take my word.
There was apparently a Mistake made, & he was given the benefit of the doubt.

View attachment 1332455 just wiped them off with water and out them on paper have to go back out in the rain to get my shovel and things I left. Will be back later anybody know what they are

Yep, somebody did ,and now many people know what they are.
Are you happy with the finding and the results?

Detecting is a great hobby . Best standing on it's , and not the actual detectorist's merits in terms of finds ,despite varied skills and equipment.
Banners are for recoveries and the hobby, not individuals who would cheat or make false claims.

To the honest recoveries, cheers and great finds!
When a smile and the shakes comes with a recovery it's a real personal banner. The best kind.
A cheat can't top that so why consider it unless your entire life is based on cheating?
In which case, you are looking at the wrong hobby here.

I'd much rather give the benefit of the doubt, and have done so all my life. However, when I find someone in the wrong and that doubt is removed, well, it's no longer a 'choice'. But then we all make mistakes. Want proof? Just ask my wife! :tongue3: :laughing9:

I just realized something. This bogus thread has 219 likes as of this posting.
This guy is probably still getting his ego stroked (in a bizarre, pathetic kind of way) on that fact alone despite being caught red handed concocting a bogus thread.

Oh the irony....

I had originally "liked" the OP. I have since removed that like. However, all the people AGAINST this guy are getting likes by the dozens!

...Maybe he doesn't care WHO gets the Likes or what for?!?!?

Thread is probably being liked because he got exposed and called out.
