This complete buckle that I found is by far my favorite so far. It's an early style. You can date it to 1690-1720 by the chape style (thanks Bill D.). This thing is so solid I think it could be used today. The place I found it is very interesting and may produce more early finds. I also found a KG there. The 1853 Seated Half Dime is my first half dime and the detail is really nice on it. Here's where I need some help guys. I dug this brass or copper shield shaped item with obvious attachment points on the back. It came from beside a colonial cellar hole. There's a design on it but it's hard to make out. I first thought it was an eagle but now I don't believe it is. There's 3 very distinct lines on the bottom then a design above. I believe the shield was a symbol of patriotism but I have no idea what this was and what it attached to. I would really appreciate everybody's input on this one. I also found an 1864 2 center and an IH. There's also a V nickel that's absolutely destroyed and a few mystery items. Thanks for the help guys

Hot dogs, a free ferry, and an open invite to Maine? I'll bring the bug spray! Let's go invade Abe's turf boys! Besides George. George can't travel more than 150 miles from South Philly. Lol

Yup that damn ankle bracelet keeps old Georgie close to home lol

Hey he definitely is like a mom with you..
What would you do without him??

Yep that's the guy I comtacted when I found the you know what. I won't say it by name. Don't want anybody to get upset lol. Good old mom walked me through the cleaning and I couldn't be happier with the results. I love you mom

If you need the order info, I can look it up and post it. I've got last years issues. Thy've been doing an ongoing story about the Spanards in the Tresure Hunters University Section for over a year now.

I got that bracelet of months ago.
I just have to ask my PO, if its ok..
Im sure it will ok.

Rob Rob Rob I can't keep up with you buddy but I'm doing my best. Any news on that coin yet?
Not yet, sending it away to be cleaned next week. As Don said Bristol mint, so it's either just very rare, third issue, or extremely rare, 4th issue. Keep digging Ahab, I'm back out about 4 this afternoon.

It all makes sense now. He slips away from hunts and says " I like my afternoon naps." I bet he just has to check in with the parole officer!

I need to gain your trust so we can fry that future NE shilling to a crisp!

A lot of great finds there. Havent been doing any digging myself - about over with for this area. I got one of those plume harness things 20 years ago. Have seen a similar design on old English Conder pennies and halfpennies.

Thanks buddy I see that online. Seems to be a popular motif from back in the day

Thanks Richardson and Creade. Been a fun start to the season

If that is a horse tack, it must of been for a pony??? Lol.

I posted photos of these from historical photos from the mid-1800s on Tnet in the past. Search them out. If the one in the OP is around 3/4 inch tall, then that's what it is.

MAN!!! I sure hope thats it?
It definitely looks like it..
Like i said, way to small to be horse tack..
Looks like Johnny nailed the ID..

Not too small to be horse tack. Sorry.

Thanks Sut. Damn work always getting in my way of hunting lol

Looks like it is horse tack after all. BIG surprise, and thanks for playing, Vino!

Congrats Abe. The coins are just awesome... the buckle is really over the top. Very well done. GL&HH.

Fantastic finds! I'm gonna have to get my butt into the library and do some homework before you clean out the state lol.

Real nice grouping there Abe. Sweet early buckle, set of watch winders (never saw a pair on a ring like that), ram rod guide, shield shape strap tippet (with thistle design), and a half dime.

All quality finds and nice additions to the collection
