Let's See Everyones Best Personal Finds

(I was asked to show some of my older pieces so I'm going to bump up a few of my posts so they can see them rather than post them again)

I saw on another post where bblaha had asked about my best find so I thought I start a thread so everyone could post theirs as well.

So here's a few of my best personal finds. Now let's see yours.

No; It's a steel trade point, that was probably traded for furs.

steel points will have some rust.......that is some NICE STUFF!

Probably not my best, but absolutely my favorite.

I pick this buffalo scapula tool up a little over a year ago. I have quite a few "Mandan" artifacts (even some pretty nice ones) but every time I hold this piece it does something to me. It's a glimpse into their way of life. I think about how it's use effected "quality of life", it surely must have made the work a little easier to do. This tool was treasured by someone, initially a hoe or shovel until it got to the point (either wear or damage) that it no longer could do that job. Then it used for something else until ?????? - likely passed on generation to generation as a prized possession. It's still a very usable tool. The polish from used is almost three almost dimensional, it looks varnished, but it's from hour upon hour of the tedium of daily life.

I wonder if my old garden hoe gonna is still be useable in 1000 years or so.

If I had to pick one, this is probably my best flint piece.
I found it on a sub-soil pile, at a new house location. Bicycle tracks and little foot prints all over the pile, and there it was, fully exposed in all it's glory.
2 3/8 " long, fluted on both sides, after 40 years of hunting it's my best.

Very nice and I think the way you found it is great. I've recently found some pieces pretty much the same way.

You all have posted some fantastic artifacts. T Witko that scapula tool is a awesome piece I agree with the use polish it has that it must have been very well used and handed down from one person to the next for a long time. That is also a really nice blade.

These are some of my favorites. Not much true flint here in Maryland just quartz jasper and rhyolite. I started about 5 years ago and most sites have been worked down to flakes. Had to really work for these and for the sites I've found on my own. These have all been surface finds from fields and creeks. Thanks to all for showing these great finds.
